Dear @docride, I was going through the Hermes Vintage Bag Nightmares & Hermes Leather Care Thread and I found that @ladysarah asked you how to protect Vache Hunter from rain and you recommended Meltonian all Purpose Cleaner & Conditioner, 2 rounds of it should do the trick. It's so helpful to know! Thank you!:ty:

I have an Herbag now and I can see a few wrinkles and tiny scratches in the leather, so I was wondering if you would recommend Meltonian all Purpose Cleaner & Conditioner for preventing or treating wrinkles, cracking or scratches, please? (Besides, could there be any Saphir product that you would also recommend for Vache Hunter?) Thank you so much in advance! :flowers:

Hello! I was advised to put this query here (so apologies for double-posting!) after putting it in the main thread.
>>>

... Housing Works (a really wonderful NYC charity that aids the homeless/AIDS community) is selling what they say is a vintage Kelly bag. It's in bad shape, but I wonder if the Hermes spa would be able to make it useable? Am I dreaming? It's asking price is only $100 (though I'm sure it'll go up), and I'm wondering what a fair upper-bid price would be. Any & all suggestions would be amazing! I've never even considered buying a Hermes bag before, but since Housing Works is a great cause I'm tempted to spend more than I otherwise might ... but hope it's not a lost cause?

Hiya Doc!
I have a quick question about the Crack Stabilizer in the Restoring Spa Kit for Vintage Leather Handbags.
I've cleaned the bag, and during cleaning a few little areas are showing a bit of cracking/chipping, a little on the top of the bag and on the sangles. It's very dry. Should I put the Crack Stabilizer on - because it couldn't hurt - or should I moisturize it and then repeat the process?
TIA!

Hi Doc

What do you recommend to moisturize an in excellent condition 1955 Kelly box leather. This bag only had 1 owner used a handful of times and stored with filling and in dustbag. Leather has no scratches. Should I leave leather alone? Can not locate meltonian neutral anywhere after reading through your threads. What is a good replacement.

Hi @docride!
Here’s my results after using your Restoring kit on this 34 year old beauty - I used 2 kits and polished once.

Looking at the picture - you might not see much of a difference - but it’s much better. Not so dry and after a little black dye on a few places that showed some wear - she looks almost brand new!
(And smells better!)
Thank you!

Just bought this gorgeous Hermes 35 Kelly not sure if keeping. Thoughts from all on the damage by silver ring holding handles. Should I be concerned? Don’t believe leather cracked all the way through almost looks chipped. I could touch up and condition. All thoughts and comments welcomed!

Does anyone know what can cause this to happen in Epsom- randomly there will be white areas that look as if the color came off the embossed leather but then when rubbing it out with your finger will actually go away and the color appears again. This happened on two of my Epsom bags.

Hi Doc!
First, thank you for your time and effort on this forum. I’ve browsed through your threads and have learned so much on how to keep my Hermes bags in the best condition! This is my first post here, as I have never purchased a preloved bag. Could I ask your opinion on this bag? Is the condition as such that I can condition and restore? Or, would a spa visit do the trick? I am most concerned about the area on the front lower left. Thank you so much!

Hi doc!!! Just wanted to stop by and say :ty: and give you a few big :hugs: from across the pond!!!! Today the jar that carries my homemade rib sauce spilled ALL over the passenger side, and onto my barenia kelly!!! I almost crushed the car when I found out! When I got home, I quickly searched “wine” and “barenia” and came across your original advice of “washing” the leather, as I remember a fellow tpf’er had a similar experience recently. And I did exactly that: washed the barenia. And guess what, most of it came out!!! And that’s what left (pls see pix number 2). Shall I continue “washing” the outline? I am quite happy with what I have, don’t get me wrong!!! Just wondering if I should continue. :) I think eventually I might have to replace the entire back panel anyway.... but just in case you think I should. :) :ty: !!!

The second pix of the sauce (yes, it’s that dark), and first pix is the barenia right now! Isn’t it amazing!!!!!

Hello Doc! I've been reading through this thread and I want to first off, thank you for all your help and expert advise  I've begun the search for a box calf Kelly and have found one but it states that it has some mold on the inside. There are also some deep scratches on the front and back of the bag. Would a good spa treatment help resolve some of these issues? Here are some photos for you to look at. THANK YOU!

Here's the link in case you'd like to look at the photos up close. Not sure if these photos will enlarge?! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-...-Box-Calf-Vintage-France-JT07061/382861237570
