I’ve bought some Saphir products and just spot tested them. For the life of me couldn’t locate any of the Saphir waterproofer but the Sport Loisir Outdoor promises to be the best one.
To the back top corner of the bag I applied the cream to my finger and massaged. I then applied 4 drops of water. I’ll let the photos speak for itself.

But I also bought the Saphir Renovateur and was hoping to finish off with that and buff it.

Hi Doc!
First, thank you for your time and effort on this forum. I’ve browsed through your threads and have learned so much on how to keep my Hermes bags in the best condition! This is my first post here, as I have never purchased a preloved bag. Could I ask your opinion on this bag? Is the condition as such that I can condition and restore? Or, would a spa visit do the trick? I am most concerned about the area on the front lower left. Thank you so much!

It appears to have discoloring in the photos is this the actual case? The bag seems sturdy but I can not see handle and handle bases. Ask for those pictures ok?

I recently bought a pre-loved constance 23. It's in beautiful condition, except that I noticed that the leather lining is peeling a bit on the left side (picture attached below), near where the flap naturally bends and gets the most stretching when opened. I'm a little concerned that this will only get worse with time, with opening of the flap. I would not intentionally try to stretch it, but because it's a single gusset, it's almost necessary to open it more fully so that I can see or place my items.

Do you have recommendations on if this can be remedied, if I should be worried about it getting a lot worse, and if I should return it (which is an option)? Thanks in advance!

Looks like that is not going to be remedied
And is most likely the results of or in part of normal use
Will it eventually get worse? Probably yes
Is it detrimental to function ? In my opinion probably not but the way we feel about a bag is subjective
If it bothers you return it

Hi Docride, what leather of the trim do you think it is? Is the body toile? Can I get rid of the spots/stains on the toile? Thanks!

Maybe veau grain lisse? The canvas is toile
You might be able to lighten the toile with cleaning but it’s a crap shoot and I would say if you want clean unstained toile as the final result pass ....

Does anyone know what can cause this to happen in Epsom- randomly there will be white areas that look as if the color came off the embossed leather but then when rubbing it out with your finger will actually go away and the color appears again. This happened on two of my Epsom bags.

Not sure [emoji848]

Hello,

I purchased three Birkins 12 years ago. I used 1 a few times, but the other two remained unused in their boxes.

The rouge garance that I used a few times seems to have a layer of dust ingrained as well as fried leather.

The etoupe seems ok, but when I first took it out, the handles were stuck together.

The blue Jean completely lost its shape. Please see pics.

I have a friend interested in buying, and didn’t want to present it to her in this condition. How can I safely clean it?

Also, does anyone remember how much late 2007 prices were for them?

Thanks so much in advance.

Thanks so much for the reply. It seems the bag has already been worked on, quite a bit...But, that’s expected, due to the low price. I decided to pass on this one. Thanks, again!

Hi Docride,
I'd appreciate if you could comment on how this lovely barenia Evelyn would clean up. I don't see any serious staining, and I am hoping the scratches would fade in to the patina, after a good cleaning/oiling etc. But you know best!!
2. Random question- Does ebene barenia tend to patina more evenly in appearance ( or because of the darker coloring, it just appears to?)
PS- LOVE all your threads! I have learned SO much ( but obviously not enough!!)
Thanks in advance

Hi Docride
May I get your advice pls?
What is the best product for dyeing exotic skin pls?
I have some hot pink croc shoes I’d like to dye black.
I seem to recall you mentioned a good product for this purpose - it was many years ago on a similar thread. Do you mind sharing again?
Thanks a bunch, hope you are well :)
Kind regards and thanks in advance

Hey!! I am thinking of buying a vintage lizard Kelly and am wondering if the handle plates which is cracking and tearing a little can be fixed! Also one of the straps at the closure section

Good morning,
I am thinking about this lovely barenia hunting bag, and would appreciate your opinion on how well it may clean up. The scratches etc., I assume will blend a bit after cleaning and conditioning, however,I see there is some wear under the strap shown which concerns me.Also note the hardware defects- fixable? I've also asked for other pictures, but based on these, would you give some opinion as to the "cleaned up" potential?
thanks so much

hi all - hope your thursday is treating you amazingly!

i purchased this pre-loved with the understanding there were cracks and some dryness. the seller mentioned she had already taken it to the hermes spa. i'm wary because it seems the existing cracks are similar to cracked glass: just the beginning of ongoing cracking in the future. someone shared through this balm with me (https://www.hangerproject.com/saphir-nappa-leather-balm.html).

would love any insight you have. thanks so very much!!

A good conditioner can help, but thsse fine cracks are not going to be healed or disappear with any kind of magic potion ... the best you can do it try to help it from getting worse...

Hi,
Looks pretty good from here, however being barenia assume the scratches and marks will stay even after cleaning and conditioning. The hardware issue on the buckle will not be cured and would need re-plated or replaced. I did not see the area under the buckle so I can not comment.
