Docride's Hermes Lazarus Thread (can this Hermes be Saved? )

Well - possibly? It’s is very different than the box leather:

Looks like chèvre ... you can certainly condition it. However, I would not use a heavy greasy conditioner I would use a light lotion type conditioner or a light cleaner/conditioner type product  you do not want to saturate the lining with wetness if a cleanser or the oils of a greasy type conditioner.
All the best , doc

Thank you!
I might condition it lightly the next time I do my bi-monthly check-ups!

You don’t want to over condition either
That’s important. Do take care.
You don’t want to kill your bag with kindness.
I have a thread in the Hermes reference section to learn about caring for Hermes leathers and exotic skins.

This looks to be an easy fix even for a home spa. All the best doc

Hi docride! Thank you for everything you do here!

I’ve searched extensively and not found an answer so am posting here. I have a small scuff on the corner of my Epsom C24. Can I try to condition and buff it or only leave it to H? I was at FSH but didn’t have enough days in EU to leave it for treatment. They wanted me to give them a month, just in case.

I’ve noticed people around the forum suggesting Meltonian and blackrock but I’ve seen your old posts advising against these for Epsom.

Looking forward to hearing from you and thank you! [emoji813]️

Hello ,
I’m sorry I was late responding. If you can push any remaining topskin back over the scuff that would be good
If it’s actually missing topskin then that’s going to remain smooth rather than textured like the surrounding leather surface. but if there is missing color you can touch it up with a little color. But conditioner and or color touch up can not replace the textured leather surface if it’s been removed.
Thank you for your question.
Doc
PS > there are non-Hermes craftsman/restoration specialists who maybe able to add a bit of surface texture to that area for you.

Dear Docride,
I am looking into purchasing a preowned evelyne but it has ink stains inside.
Is there any way they can be removed?
I would really appreciate your opinion.
Thank you in advance

Hello
I would say those ink stains are too long sitting to try and remove them Nd I would caution you not to attempt to use ink killers on an unfinished suede leather interior this ink killer would drive the ink through to the exterior and that would be way worse.

Hi Doc, got a question for my chamonix dalvy in rough H. I hope you can see the slightly wavy / pebbled lines on the leather, as well as a few incidental scratches. This is preloved when I had it. Not sure if these slightly wavy / pebbled lines, which are not smooth to the touch, can be saved? Thank you!View attachment 4158070 View attachment 4158071

Hi there,
Those are scuffing type scratches you can clean condition and polish it should improve the look of them but won’t make them disappear. With a bit of TLC even scuffy box calf can clean up pretty good and all those imperfections can blend back into its patina.
I hope that helps?

Thank you so much, doc! Is there a conditioner you’d recommend for me to buff the spot a little?

Thanks doc - I got the saphir creme universelle leather balm, I will try with this - can it be used to polish as well? besides conditioning?

Hi doc, could you kindly advise what conditioner is best for evercolor? My K32 is slightly over a year old but I use it daily for work so I wss wondering it needs more frequent care. Thanks!

Hi there,
I have a thread in the Hermes reference section with lists of care products and instructions
Suffice to say you can use what’s recommended for semi-finished leathers like swift and veau gulliver or the one’s recommended for finished leathers like Togo and Clemence. All the best doc

Hi Doc, I would like to get your expert opinion on whether the discoloration shows at the front (middle part) of the Kelly 28 (from 1994) can be restore easily? or is that discoloration permanent? Thank you in advance!

Hi, Doc -

I did a search in this thread for “wine” and nothing came up.

My best friend is away and was eating at a restaurant - the waiter spilled a glass of red wine on her brand new Barenia Faubourg B30.

My heart hurts for her! I suggested she call our boutique (which has a lovely craftsman) or go to the local boutique where she is, but I don’t know if she has been able to do anything.

For future reference (for us wine lovers [emoji6]), what would you suggest if you were in that situation? With a wine spill - what would you do immediately?

Thank you!!!

It’s hard to say exactly what’s going on here... I don’t think this will be an easy do it yourself project . Might be colored polish or it might be someone got over zealous with cleaning ... or some bad lighting making it look more noticeable than it is in real life. Red bags can be harder than most colors in my opinion.....
A skilled restoration person should be able to sort this out.
All the best doc
