Do you wear your designer bag to work/interviews?

The last time I went on a job interview, I made a conscious effort to not carry a recognizable designer bag. So I carried a black MJ, which I don't think is recognizable to most people, unless they are in the fashion field. I left my LV monogram at home.

Yep I carried my Dior Gaucho tote and rocked my CL shoes. Outfit was youthful and put together and I got the job. Really depends on the industry though.

Law. And I'm a student, so that's part of the reason why I'm being conservative, I don't want anyone to wonder why I'm carrying an expensive bag ;)

I totally think it depends on the type of industry your'e in or where you are located. As a law student, I can understand you not wanting to carry in anything too expensive or flashy. How many people here have been leery of carrying an expensive bag around their boss?
I'm a sales rep in a two-state area in the upper midwest and I find myself catering to my audience. The people I call on all know that the sales reps make more than they do, but I'm not about to rub their noses in it. I don't carry my LV's to the more conservative/rural parts of my region. They recognize LV and they know it's expensive. I don't want them to figure out that I have more money than sense!!!

I usually carry a portfolio to an interview (you know, for making notes, asking questions, that sort of thing - and it's always my COACH portfolio, which means NOTHING to those interviewing me, but I feel GOOD about it) and to hell with the purse. I can't imagine that it would be the focus of any interview, anyway. It goes on the floor, doesn't it? I mean, who is being interviewed, anyway? Your handbag or you? If you look put-together, clean, and professional (depending on your 'industry'), then I would think it doesn't matter what BRAND of handbag you carry. But that's just me.

I agree that it depends on the industry and the image that you would like to portray, although I think that a good quality bag and very nice shoes make an excellent impression. It shows that you believe in yourself and are confident if you have good and classy accessories...at least thats what I think.
