Do you like Damier because that's about the only option?

Up until a couple of months ago I thought Damier was way too masculine - probably because I had bought my dh a couple of pieces. What turned my eye was the Trevi. Once I went into the store and tried it on in person I changed my mind. It is just an added bonus that it so care free. I don't have the time or the lifestyle for babying vachetta. My hands are always covered in lotion and/or oils and it is sunny, hot and humid where I live. So, Damier is now a win - win for me!

I got caught in the rain with my Trevi yesterday. It was sooo nice not to have to worry about it getting ruined :D

I think the damier ebene is a little "manly" like someone replied on here. It's also my least favorite pattern/color out of azur, mono, and ebene. I do like the fact that it's worry free and if the mono came out without vachetta that would be awesome. I take care of my bags well in general so I don't mind having some vachetta. The brown vachetta is nice, and if any of my bags' vachetta gets too black, then I would just have them replaced.

I only have one Damier piece and thats an Ebene Speedy 30. While I like the Damier, I definitely prefer the mono. My Damier is great for rainy days, and I tend to carry it when I'm going somewhere where I'm afraid my mono bag with vachetta might get messed up. I love the look of vachetta when it patinas, and since I rotate my bags often, none of them get carried for a long period of time, so the vachetta stays nice. I have to admit mono without vachetta would be carefree, but I'd miss the honey colored leather on the mono bags.

For every LV that I like, I always hope for it to come in Damier Ebene (if it's released in Mono or Azur initially). I prefer and love the Damier Ebene canvas better simply because it doesn't scream "LVVVVVV" Besides that, I don't really fancy the vachetta leather and I don't like the way it looks after the patina has developed. Now I just hope that LV will release Delightful in Damier Ebene and I'm all set for a purchase :graucho:

I would not buy more mono if it didn't have the vachetta. Mainly because it's already the most popular pattern and everyone carries it. I only have two mono bags and actually about to get rid of them. I love the vernis and the Damier. I also like the Damier Azur and of course the Mahina but for some reason I've grown tired of the mono and like to carry styles that aren't seen as much.

ITA with you once again, AAdams! I feel like selling my mono pieces because they are everywhere and I am just so tired of them. I like some of the Damier bags though, like the Trevi and my NF. Most of the Damier bags are too old looking, though. I prefer the more expensive LV lines nowadays though (like Mahina, Antheia, Empreinte etc).

I didn't like the Damier pattern at first but it has grown on me the last year or so. I like how it doesn't scream LV.

My next bag is going to be Ebene - probably Speedy 30 for fall!
ITA with you! I didn't like the Damier styles at first either. They have now grown on me. In fact, like you, I intend on buying the Damier Speedy 30 for the Fall. Damier is very polished looking to me. I have the mono Speedy 30 as well as the Artsy MM and I lvoe them both for different reasons.

No. I love epi more than damier and mono... and I am probably going to get my first Vernis bag soon.

I find Damier is nice because of no vachetta, but I only need one bag in that leather, as I don't tend to wear a lot of brown.

The majority of bags that I own are in the epi leather range.

I got caught in the rain with my Trevi yesterday. It was sooo nice not to have to worry about it getting ruined :D

That is why I love my Trevi! I had a Cerise bucket - got stuck in the rain and about had a heart attack. It ended up getting water spots and I was so upset. Don't have to worry about that anymore :D

I used to own Damier bags only as rainy-day bags, and thought they were not as pretty as Mono bags. But the Damier design really grew on me and I now love it so much and prefer it to Mono. Damier is so classy and chic!

Like like Damier Ebone but Azur so much. I only own two pieces in Ebone (Speedy 30 and cosmetic pouchette) and an Eva in Azur (the only piece in Azur that I found attractive.)

I own just about something in very pattern and LOVE THEM ALL. Vernis is a little high maintenance for me. It is keeping me for purchasing an VERNIS ALMA. I really want one though.

I'm just wondering if everyone feels they need to wear brown to carry Damier Ebene?

I keep seeing lots of responses from people saying they don't wear a lot of brown!

I don't wear ANY brown clothes ever but still carry Mono and am planning to buy Ebene Speedy. Is that bad??

I think Ebene Damier goes well with many colors, as long as the fabric does not have "busy" prints. It goes especially well with solid outfit in my opinion. I love it with all black, BTW.

I've read some things here on tPF that strongly suggest that a lot of people opt for bags in ebene because they're easier to maintain, but I don't love damier ebene because it's 'the only option' - I love it because I think it looks classic, and I genuinely love the look of the print. I do like monogram canvas as well, but I tend to prefer monogram for small accessories. That's just my personal opinion, but I really do think that damier ebene is very stylish, will go with almost anything and adds an instant flair of class and sophistication to an outfit. I can't see why anyone would think it was dull or boring, but hey, I guess we're all different and have different tastes.
