Do you have any weird bag behavior?

Well I live in Seattle and you never know some days when it might rain so I carry an XL plastic cover whenever I leave the house. Here’s the story why...

It was a bright sunny day downtown Seattle, still a little chilly but nice. All of a sudden it started to pour! That day I was carrying my chanel gst!! I flipped out:wtf:,it was my first chanel!!! I ran under a covered doorway sooo fast.I took my grey aa crew neck sweater off and bundled up my bag(didn’t even hesitate,it was like 2nd nature). I walked the 4 blocks to my car with a white cami on and my bra showing through carrying my chanel like a baby...People were starring at me as I waited at the cross walk. I didn’t care if I looked silly. If they only knew the precious cargo I was carrying. Plus any bag addict would do the same thing?lol...Not so weird to us right? ha

So because of that eventful few minutes I never leave home with out a plastic cover, in the past I would carry plastic covers occasionally cuz I do own some gucci bags and my fav balenciaga of all time and couple LV but this day I just didn’t think about it. Now its like I don’t leave without my keys, my wallet, vaseline(even if thats not what im wearing that day) and a plastic cover for my bag in case it rains(essentials)...I’m actually thinking about getting some of those disposable ponchos for added protection like plastic over my plastic :thinkin:..
People think I’m odd when I whip out the XL plastic protection bag but I don’t care! Ha:laugh:

You are so not crazy!! I do that too. I usually have a "rain" bag but sometimes it will just start raining or sprinkling out of nowhere. When that happens and I don't have a shopping bag or something I stuff my purse up my shirt and run my ass off. People stare at me funny because I look pregnant and I'm holding my "baby" as I run for cover, but hey for that amount of money I spend on my bags I will do anything to keep them safe.

Also when I use the bathroom I leave my purse on my shoulder I don't like hanging it on the hook and I NEVER leave it on the floor, so gross!! Plus I heard of some stories of people leaving their bags on hooks and some jerk reaches their hand over the door and jacks the purse.

I must also chime in on the insomnia-the other night, I got up around 2ish to go to the bathroom. Well I immediately started thinking of this bag I had seen on the Dooney website. For 2 hours, I laid awake thinking about the bag, all the matching accessories, etc...Then I was upset b/c I finally fell asleep & slept later than I wanted! I wanted to be at the mall when it opened to check out that bag, but I was later than I planned since I'd been up all night thinking about it! :p

W/ bags I dislike but don't want to give away or sell b/c of the money spent and are too jacked-up to sell to get anywhere near the amount of money I spent:
I pet; I fondle; I squeeze; I tug; I bunch up; I zip and unzip or snap and unsnap countless times- not to get anything out or in but just b/c; I cuddle it like a stuffed animal at night; and I play w/ it like it's an action figure. However, I do it all ever so gently b/c I also try not to deliberately hurt it to an excuse to throw it out.

I'm not that picky as some other girls in terms of a scratch or dent here and there, so not overwhelmingly do I fear wear and tear in the future. It does dawn on me a little but I accept it easily, esp. since my bags are "steals" and I see it as just an opportunity to get another great and awesomely-priced bag.

I don't ever set my bags on the floor, or anywhere that even slightly looks like it may be dirty. I won't even set my bag on the car seat sometimes if it looks like it's got fuzz or anything or the sort on it. When i get home i take everything out of my bag and put my bag back in it's dustcloth and wrap it up in a plastic bag for extra protection. I wont carry my bags if it rains or if it looks like it may rain. If it does rain when i do have one of my bags out i make someone come pick me up at the door and i run to the car to try to keep my bag from getting wet.

vinyl> i do that all the time! sometimes i brave the cold and use my scarf to cover my bag instead of my neck!

i sometimes also miss my bags. i now miss my black bal GSH City... i think i'm gonna go home and hug it later

bumping my old thread (can't believe it's been 8 years!). My old habits are still going strong :) I think I have relaxed a little bit more but still obsessive. A new one I have is if there is not an empty seat next to me at a restaurant or a hook, I will put my purse behind
me even if it means my bum only has half of the chair. anyone else ?

I do this too!! Lol.

Plus, I am a leather sniffer and I'm afraid sometimes that I will be caught doing that in public. :graucho:

I glare at people who bump into my bags more so than if they bumped into my person! When I'm in crowded areas (think NYC times square), I cradle my bag in front of me to prevent aforementioned bumpage, and also to prevent pickpockets but that's just a bonus

I am the same way! I always make sure that there is enough room to easily get around me and my bag whenever possible. When I have done that, and a person still bumps into my bag (often from behind since if I can see the crash coming I will take preventative maneuvers) I cannot help the horrid expression that comes across my face. I don't know why some people seem to prefer to try to go through someone's handbag.

Oh man. I love this thread! My dreaded situation is when a bathroom has no clean hooks or surfaces to place my bag. I've resorted to wearing my bag around my neck if I couldn't put anywhere. [emoji31]
