If I'm going to the grocery store or just running errands, I'll pretty much look like I just rolled out of bd. It's pretty much a head scarf, sweat pants, t shirt, and sneakers. If I'm going to KOP, my local mall, I range any where from very casual (sweat pants or shorts) to something more decent (jeans and flats). Since I mostly shop at LV and Burberry and at least a couple of the SAs at each store know me, I get pretty good service. I don't worry about the other stores so much. Luckily I've never had anyone be rude to me or judge me by the way I dress. When that the day comes, I can guarantee that none of my $$ will be spent at that store.

I'm halfway between.

If I have to go into town for a day out then I like to dress-up, even if I'm not meeting with anyone but just shopping, dressing-up is a pleasure for me if I have the time.

However, if I have to pop to the shops after work or before dance class etc, I'm dressed how I'm dressed, if SA has a problem taking my money because of that I will be having a quiet word with her/his head office.

For some reason every time I visit a designer boutique I always look my worse (we're talking track pants and backpack) and naturally I get very 'interesting' reactions. In Dover Street Market recently a shop assistant looked at me from bottom to top (I kid you not, she literally bobbed her head down and up and then pursed her lips), registering my unkempt state, before deigning to answer my question. But the funny thing is I once went to Louis Vuitton looking even worse (more like a traveling backpacker) and the assistant was lovely, not only did she not have security follow me around (it happened before) but she went above and beyond to help. I do think it makes a difference, some shop assistants who are snotty are a bit less snotty when confronted with a well put together customer...

No, I do not dress up to go shopping. My style is very very low key (jeans and tshirt), so I think that actually helps me when I go to a large department store like Bergdorfs or Saks. If I'm just browsing around, I prefer to be left alone.

One of the (many!) things that drew me to BV was the fantastic customer service I got when I went in to get my 1st bag. I was coming from school and super dressed down, and they didn't belittle me or treat me as though I wasn't there to buy anything. In the end I walked away with a great bag and met my fab SA :)

I like clothes and all the various ways things work together, so going out is another opportunity to create. Some places you head to might pose restrictions on what might be appropriate but shopping is completely open. I see it as an opportunity to be as out there with fashion as you can be since you are heading to fashion central. Particularly at high-end stores. Most people working there love fashion and everyone shopping is there for the same thing. It's fun. I've met some interesting people shopping and it usually starts with comments about what one of us is wearing.
On the other hand it is cool to dress down, but it doesn't feel as engaged.

I usually wear my dressier clothes on the weekend since I don't get to wear them at work. Otherwise it's nice jeans and blouse. I blend in with everyone.

I think as long as you look respectable and presentable, you shouldn't be sized up. If you're in your pjs, well, everyone is judging you.

If you're dressed nicely and service is lacking, then go to someone else. Most SAs I've encountered have been polite and they get me as a repeat customer. If not, I come back but to a different SA.

I don't go overboard but sadly, I do tend to wear something that I got from that store. I usually go to the particular store only if I am ready to buy or I'm really interested in their products anyway. I'm net savvy so I research a lot before I even step inside the store. From experience, you get treated better if you are carrying/wearing something you got from them.

However, if I'm a regular and really know the SA, anything goes.

I'm a dress up kind of girl so I would say yes. I mean I don't necessarily need to be decked out in 5inch heels, flats can do as well...but I like to look put together. It's another opportunity for me to play dressup.

+1 maxxout! I take it as another opportunity to put an oufit together as well.

Yes for a high-end boutique, especially if I know I'm going to buy something there. I will make more of an effort with my appearance (not too crazy) and bring a nice bag to help ensure I get good service. It amazes me how much nicer SAs are when you are carrying a premium designer bag.

If I'm just going to browse, then I don't care. But to be honest, I usually skip all that and have things shipped to me.
