Now, I'm all for being responsible and all but I just have to add:

Many, MANY men spend too much money on sporting event tickets, hunting equipment, luxury sports cars, power tools, too much fast food, extraneous car parts, electronic gadgets, bad investments, etc. My experience with the men in my life is that they couldn't give a rat's a$$ about feeling guilty. They are in complete denial and feel completely justified. COMPLETELY justified.

Girls, let's all cut ourselves some slack and enjoy the purses that the Lord and the UPS man have delivered unto our lives.:presents:

Life is so darn short. At the end of the day, it's just money. Pigs won't even eat it, my friend Roxanne used to say.

Yes I do feel guilty especially after a big splurge then my DH tells me" let's go return it and get our money back, let me know now so I can turn this car around and drive back to the store"... but we don't because he knows that when I want something I have to have it and I won't stop talking about it. As long as DH is okay with the purchase (since he's the moneymaker) and he's willing to fund it then all the guilt just disappears. Some of my purses were 'impulse buys' but none of them were over $500 but when it comes to more expensive bags I try to research about it first to see if it's really worth the $$$$ (that's why i haven't pulled the trigger on chanel :thinkin: ). I want quality when I have to fork over $1k+ for a purse.

Ooooohhh! I would have to say yes I do feel guilty and don't tell anyone what I have paid for something. I wish my husband would splurge on himself more, but I guess we both can't just buy anything we want. I shouldn't feel guilty about spending my work bonus on myself and my hubby says the same.

I made numerous attempts to save money for super super high end bags and never buy them because I end up feeling super guilty. Then my interest in purses kinda faded a bit which is why I left Purse Forum for a looonnnggg while. But lately I've just been rocking eco tote bags anyway.

I have great admiration for you!

I think my guilt would stop if I had endless funds and it didn't account for anything! However, any purchase is a give/take proposition and it needs to be thought out!

Def! If something is thought out and you will love it forever go for it! I guess it stems from my humble beginnings. So now that I do have the money it feels strange splurging it all on bags. If I do want something nice though I try to get it on sale!

When I was in a buying/trading/selling frenzy, I felt extremely guilty. I still do now, when I think back on it (but what a lesson learned!!!)

Now I try not to feel too guilty, I haven't purchased a bag in a long time and I feel like when I finally do get something new, I should be proud that I waited so long.

I never ever feel guilty. I am buying what I want because i truly want it. If I wanted to spend the money on some jeans, a shirt, and a lower end bag, I could...but I would much rather have that one nice bag than those things combined.

Nope, because when I splurge to buy an expensive bag, it's usually a planned purchase that I've been waiting many months (or even years) to buy. Plus, I'm the type of person who uses a bag until it runs itself into the ground, so I always feel like I get my money's worth. I think I'll only start to feel guilty if I have multiple bags and there are many that aren't getting used. So far, that isn't the case, so I feel perfectly fine with my purchases :) They're money well spent!

Recently with the news talking about the famine in Africa it has made me reflect and feel a twinge of guilt over being a purse nut:nuts::woot:. Infact, I do not think that I am going to buy another handbag this year and will donate to a charity to help with the famine. Anyone else feeling guilt over high end handbags and wanting more? I think that I am evolving. Don't get me wrong I lvoe handbags and think that they are walking forms of artwork. Just right now they are not everything and I do not need the latest and greatest LV every season. Being satisfied and drooling over others reveals is enough for the moment. Thinking out loud....;)

Yes.. sometimes I look at my handbags in my closet and I feel like I've gone overboard. I mean, even if I use a different bag every day of the week, I'd still wouldn't have used half of them.
That being said, I think I am at the point where I am buying handbags to 'collect' rather than 'use'.. so I think I will be giving it a rest and buy only when there are good sales, or special occasions now.

Not really. I don't constantly shop. I buy a few bags per year and that's it. I work, take care of my family and save money from every paycheck. I have donated to charity as well. I think balance is key to never feeling guilty.
