Do you carry your LV in the winter?

I plan on taking my Speedy B 30 in DE out in all sorts of inclement weather. I'm in Calgary. :)

Anything with vachetta trim will have to sit out days where there is any precipitation, but they will make an appearance if it's dry.

Thanks ladies! I love my Speedy so much. I had always wanted a Monogram Speedy, but I thought the DE was the best way to go with the snow and winter yuck being majority of the year here. I think my next LV will be a Mon Mono Speedy, but that one will only go outside in optimum weather conditions! Miss Krys - I live just outside of Edmonton! Have you been to the LV in Holt Renfrew here? I am thinking about making the trip in to have my Speedy hot stamped, but have heard horror stories about the SA's there. I was in the Calgary store back in 2012 and had the most amazing service even after I told the SA I was NOT buying that day. I've heard the service is quite rude in the Edmonton store. That is one of the reasons I bought my DE online - I didn't want to drive into the city (especially down town) and get poor service.

I have only bought from the Edmonton store - and only once did I have a bad SA. Most of them are great! And, yes you can use your DE in winter here!

Your new DE Speedy is beautiful! Congrats! Last winter my DE Speedy was my daily bag and it was perfect. We get cold and snow here too, and last winter was especially bad. I think the DE Speedy is the perfect choice, appropriate for all seasons and it's essentially worry- free. Enjoy!

I live in New York and we have rough winters atleast it seems like they are getting worse and every year and I use most my LV's. Only ones I don't plan to use are my backpack and mc pieces,

Congrats on your speedy! Love your name by the way, I am a crazy cat lady too :cat: :kitty:

It can be really hit and miss sometimes with that location (the best service hands-down was when I was in Gold Coast, Australia!) but when I went in last week to send my Josephine wallet away for repairs the service was really good. I looked like a grub and was still jet-lagged a bit, but Rodney was a sweetie to me and I ended up purchasing my Delightful NM DE from him. If you have any other questions please feel free to PM bomb me:D

Would love to know your thoughts on the delightful in DE as I'm planning on purchasing this bag next month in the pm size.... :graucho:

I was already in love with my OM MM and decided to get the DE so I could have a Delightful for winter and rainy days. I love my NM every bit as much and her red-lined interior is gorgeous! :hbeat::girlsigh:

Pros:
DE, so I don't have to worry about vachetta leather with its patina and water spots
Same classic Delightful slouch that we all love
Very lightweight due to minimal hardware and excessive leather
Still a large, roomy bag although the NM is slightly smaller than the OM
A generous handle drop that will easily slide up and over the thickest winter coats with room to spare when she's allowed to slouch
A thin, wide strap that disperses weight evenly on the shoulder so it's comfortable to wear for long periods...I often forget she's there and I pack my bags heavy

Cons:
Made from the new canvas that some other members find rubbery or has a chemically smell...I saw 2 of those, both MIU, at my store but mine isn't either of those (she's MIF) so make sure to carefully inspect you bag before you buy her...I think this is a bag-to-bag or canvas batch case and not dependent on where it was made
DE leather is prone to wrinkling, which is normal, and this is the case with the trim along the top of my bag...no cracking though so I'm perfectly fine with it
The strap takes longer to "break in" and may be slightly uncomfortable/dig in if you have bare shoulders
Some other members say their bag slips off the shoulder easily, but I have broader shoulders and don't have this problem

Hope this helps

This was very helpful!! I'm a little nervous as I will have to purchase online since I don't have a boutique in my state :(
I'm interested in the pm size... Is yours in DE the mm size? I too would like to wear mine over my winter coat. Do you know if the pm has the same strap drop as your mm? Also... You mention some wrinkling on the top trim.. Would you mind taking a pic of what this looks like on yours? I really want to make an informed purchase so I'm not returning. Thank you so much for your time!! It's greatly appreciated :)

This is the MM size and the handle drop, when the bag isn't slouching, is about 7"/18cm and you could almost easily double that if you fold the bag into a fortune cookie slouch. I believe the PM is very similar, maybe give an inch or so to compensate for the difference in length. This bag, even the PM, could fit on the Michelin Man's arm so don't worry about wearing it with a thick coat. You can also see how the strap is starting to take on the shape of my shoulder after being worn about 4 times...at this point it's no longer digging in whatsoever.
The wrinkling isn't really a problem for me since I expected it given how much this bag flexes and bends, especially around the top trim. It's mostly prevalent around the strap/hardware attachment point and a few inches inwards at the point where the canvas will begin to fold.
Hope this helps!

You are so kind to post pics and answer all my questions... Thank you :D
I love the look of your bag and even though there is wrinkling as you mentioned it doesn't detract from the beauty whatsoever and doesn't look like its cracking or peeling so that's great news. It's on my wish list for sure now :)
