I think the older we become the issue of a heavy big bag for our backs is not so pleasant so therefore thats why bags start becoming smaller.Thats true for myself.
The French people love luxury. And certainly the luxury from their own country! Think on brands like Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton. They are all French. France was always the country of luxury. If you look in the past, we see the kings and queens of France with luxury goods, like Marie-Antoinette. Now these days Parisians love to be discreet on the streets. So they were rather a Kelly bag than a Louis Vuitton Alma. Louis Vuitton is known as a regular brand in Paris. Everyone knows what it is, and almost everyone has some items.
Hermès is for Parisians some kind of timeless discreet ellegance. Everyone knows a Kelly Bag is from Hermès, but it doesn't screem Hermès, you understand? Parisians just love this. This is very exclusive to Paris. In the rest of France there aren't a lot of city's where people buy these kind of things except city's as Nice, Lille, Saint-Tropez etc.
I always say, you never see people wearing an whole Chanel outfit from the haute couture-collection cause it's not appropriate to wear it (that's my rule for European countries, I live in Holland haha), cause it's too excessive. In Paris you can! And sometimes, you see someone wearing it!
In Holland where I live, people don't really care about exclusive brands like Hermès or Chanel. We have a very very tiny street where you can buy Hermès in a little Hermès store, Chanel in a store where there are just 4 dresses or something haha.
Also, the French side of Belgium loves these kind of things. In a city like Brussel, you see a lot of Birkins
I'm sorry, I typed it wrong I think, I'm not a native English speaker, so sometimes, I say thing that I don't mean in a certain way haha! You're right it's part of the French culture. But I meant that there are a lot of places in France where people are not very rich... mostly arround city's you find villages with people wearing Hermès, but not in a tiny village against Spain in the Pyranees (don't know if this is the English name ) That's what I meant... Sorry for giving a wrong impression!
the Victoria is another design from Hermes, quite plain but beautiful in an under-the-radar sort of way^^What is that?
My husband is French, so we go to France a lot and have many French friends/relatives. I had never thought about this until now...but I don't think I've ever seen any of them carry Hermes.
Maybe some wore scarves, but I am not a scarfie so never paid much attention.
The only one I've seen wear it, is my husband's goddaughter, wearing a twilly that we gave her!
I actually don't know! All kinds of things I guess. The only one I remember was a Lancel.^^So then what sort of bags do they carry?I
Wait, your 30s is middle aged now? This thread is so interesting, I do see some birkin was carried by old well dressed old ladies, but kelly was carried by many Asian middle aged (around 30s) in Paris, only spotted one young lady carried a birkin 35 noir with phw when I was near Printemps
