Do any LV lovers also own MCM handbags?

I love my LV and H, but mostly but I prefer black and grey logos if I do a logo bag. LV is always either brown logo (dislike brown, but like some of the monogram print and some of you rock brown, looks bad on me) or their periodic color monogram special collections are fun. I really wish LV would make the black and grey logo print they do for men in women’s bags! What is the deal with LV and H acting like men like this color palette women like that one?! Have they ever heard of fluidity? Maybe someday they will figure that out.

I also agree with one poster in that I prefer palladium hw and LV doesn’t do that as much. I bought an MCM tote on sale and love it, wears like iron, holds a bunch, got a shoulder Pochette inside of it and I can take out in rain, snow, and anywhere without worry I’m ruining a very expensive bag. It still looks nice and gets tons of compliments. And given the icy snowy nasty winter I just lived through I was glad to have the MCM tote, I wouldn’t wear most of my other handbags in that mess. . But now my gorgeous blue mylockme and freesia saintonge are back out. I also probably won’t ever buy another MCM.

But no matter what we like, the coolest thing is there is something for us all, every occasion, and we like what we like! So rock what you love and phooey on anyone that turns up their nose! We have to be who we are, there is not another one of you out there! So go for it whatever you love, it’s a lot more fun that way. Interesting post OP.

I bought 2 MCM WOCS because I liked the silver hardware. I couldn't find an LV WOC that I liked with silver hardware. I was thinking of a Chanel WOC at the time, but decided I liked the MCM's enough. I didn't want to spend $2,500 on a Chanel WOC. I do wish LV had more offerings of silver hardware on canvas.handbags.

I have a MCM Patricia WOC that I use mostly as a wallet. I replaced a Chanel zip around with it. I love that’s it’s spacious, nice looking, and durable.

LV did a couple of twist woc with silver hardware. There was one I am kicking myself for not purchasing when it came out last summer.

I love both brands! I own more LV than MCM, but they fill different uses in my bag collection/wardrobe. For LV, I love the history of the House, and the evolution of the designs. I do think they're getting a bit big for their britches with the current pricing vs. quality (but the same could be said for most luxury brands). Although I love the practicality of LV canvas for a higher-end brand, I only buy the monogram and leave the leather pieces for Chanel or Gucci. I also love how lightweight LC canvas is, whereas the MCM canvas is more durable, but definitely heavier.

I consider MCM to be a mid-level brand, and the price point reflects that. I remember the obsession with MCM in the 80s, and the brand seems to have had a bit of a resurgence the past few years. That being said, the reason why I buy MCM? Because I think it's one of the best deals out there! MCM still has seasonal markdowns, and there are some excellent bargains to be had there (30-40% off). The prints are fun, and there's lots of great color. The durability is beyond amazing (at least in the canvas lines)! I can and have carried my MCM pieces on planes, through rain and snow, countless floors, Disney, and everything in-between, with no babying or being careful of anything. All my MCMs still look new and fabulous, and that alone is worth the price IMO. I think MCM has a lot of clever design, too. For instance, in an MCM belt bag I bought last year, there are 2 bags that can slide on and off the belt, and be worn separately or alone. The belt itself is nice and substantial, and there are hooks on the backside of each piece, so they can be worn as crossbody bags (leather crossbody strap was also included).

Very well said!
I agree completely!

I have both LV and MCM. I have liked MCM back from the '80's when it was owned by Michael Cromer. The pricing back then was very comparable to LV and my very first luxury bag was a white with blue monogram Patricia. I was in my 20's and had to save a long time for it! I always liked LV too but in my 20's I felt like MCM was younger and fresher than the classic LV. I was happy when MCM made a revival and have sold all my old pieces and purchased some new ones. They are made well and I don't feel that I need to be as cautious as with some of my LV's. I think just like in the 80's the MCM appeals to a younger demographic. I am not younger, so it's probably the nostalgia for myself. I will say LV created a much better business model by never putting their items on sale, which keeps the price higher for resale. I wonder if it also creates a sense of better quality by paying more money? My MCM's past and present have all been made well and held up nicely.

Just got MCM Liz Shopper in Medium. Loving it so far compared to Louis Vuitton Neverfull. I like this because of the shoulder strap being a bit longer and softer. I also like how it looks when it it cinch in. Currently, the canvas of this tote is a little hard but I am hoping that it will soften overtime. Only thing i’m missing is an inside pocket but I understand why it doesn’t have it being than it is reversible. I am looking forward to using this in many more years to come.

Congrats! I agree with you; MCM definitely does a better shoulder strap than LV. I just put essentials like keys, card case, and phone in the pouch, and then I can grab just the pouch out when I need to carry something smaller. Enjoy your new bag!

Congrats Micheme! I bet you will love it. I got one in November, but the zip version that wasn’t reversible. The canvas does soften, but it is a thick canvas. I used my tote all winter in snow rain ice salted roads and sidewalks and loved it - easy wipe with a damp paper towel and good as new! It’s great to have a bag I don’t worry about in foul weather. And the Pochette inside - that is my favorite! I keep wallet phone and keys in mine, and then grab it out to run into the store or wherever. It’s also such a large bag I carry a laptop, magazines, scarf, pretty much anything.

And I don’t miss a pocket either with the Pochette. I also use a bag organizer from divide and conquer (shout out to Connie) when I want it highly organized.

I bet you will love this bag. It looks great. Congrats!

Ps Love your pup!!
