Jesus this stuff is IMPOSSIBLE to get off!!!

The nail that chipped lifted really badly so I peeled it off - it left a perfectly smooth and clean nail behind it. So I decided to take off the rest as I fancied doing a french manicure.

I have tried: soaking cotton wool/pads in acetone and wrapping in foil (25 minutes). Tried scraping with the orange stick-thing - nothing. Wrapped again - sat with hands on top of radiator (15 minutes) - some came off with an orange stick but not muchm mostly just round the edges of the nails but not the middles. Tipped acetone into bowl; put hot water in a larger bowl - soaked fingers for (altogether) about 30 minutes.

I have now been trying to get this off my nails for almost THREE hours and there are still traces left which I cannot shift - I really don't know what to do next!! I have now given up for the night and rubbed some oil in to the nails and will try and get rid of the last traces tomorrow.

Does anyone have any advice???? Please????! I was (am) really impressed but not if it's going to take hours to remove it!

Wow um I'm not even sure I've never had that problem... I usually do acetone on cotton and wrap them in tin foil for 10 -15 and they peel right off... and if I have to redo one nail or two because a little stuck for another 10mins... I'm not even sure what to suggest... Actually the first thing you put on the bonder stuff (I cant remember its name but the glass bottle) only put it around the edges of your nail not your full nail, I know that is what makes it harder to come off.. so that might help for next time. and remember thin layers I'm not sure how thick you put them on but that can sometimes cause an issue too.

I also agree make sure the bonder is just on the tips not the whole nail because then it is nearly impossible to remove. You can you use a fine grit file to get the rest off you have on now if soaking it still isn't working. Sorry this happened I hope the next time is much smoother.

I did try and do thin coats, but I'll try and be even more careful next time!! Perhaps they weren't as thin as I thought LOL.

Both of you have mentioned the primer; following the instructions, I did put it on the entire nail. In the UK version, the bit where it says to apply round the edges of the nail is below the first part where it tells you to apply it on the entire nail. Which is annoying! So I will definitely only try round the edges or just the tip and see what happens next time.

If you only use it there, does it make the gel polish lift or chip more quickly?

My nails don't seem to be too worse for wear after being soaked and scraped last night, I think I will get a fine buffer and just go over the slightly uneven bits where I can still feel traces of gel and carry on with oiling them today. I plan to have a go at a french manicure tomorrow - although just having filed them into a more square shape they're a bit short now!!!

But I do like how they looked while the SensatioNail was on so I'm definitely going to try again!

Honestly, I would try it without using the bonder at all. Not everyone needs to use bonder, try it without it and then if you get lifting at the tips just use it at the tips. I haven't used bonder in well over a year and have no issues with lifting and the bonder makes soak offs so difficult for me.

Completely agree with mittens I would try it without too I like to just use it on tips of my index and thumb because those are my trouble nails :)

Yeah that's how the US version is too... not sure why they put it after that... I only use it on the edges and never have any problem. Im a RN so I use my hands constantly and am constantly washing my hands.

You could try one hand with the primer on the edges and one without. Then youll know for sure. but take care of your nails with the oil and such youll get the hang of it after doing a couple. :)

Well I got a very fine buffer and just took off the tiny traces of gel which were left this morning. I have now done a French manicure; but I've used "normal" polishes with the gel polish as my base and top coats.

I did go down to my local Sally's to get some RCM products, as didn't want to wait for the drying process for normal polish, to do the French part of the manicure with but they were shut.... Not sure how long this will last but the top coat has cured with no problems so I'm assuming it had dried OK... Have used the "gel primer" just on the tips. Have wasted half the bottle anyway as I managed to knock it over! :/

I used a white polish from Bourgeios to do the tips and then "Enchanted" from Revlon Brilliance & Strength for the pink part, followed by the gel topcoat and curing. I'm really pleased considering I did the tips freehand, which I'm very bad at!! The pictures don't show how shimmery/sparkly/shiny this is, which is a shame.

It looks good!

haha I knocked that stupid bottle over too... I like the gelish stuff better now :) it looks great though!

Thank you :)

Unless I buy online I can't get Gelish here - though we have Sally's Beauty Supplies, they will only sell Gelish to licensed professionals (ie not me LOL). They have the RCM line though which is what I thought I'd try - have been reading some other threads which say it's pretty much the shame as Gelish but under another name... :)

Yeah I hear RCM and gelish are the same I haven't found too many RCM around me here but then again I haven't been looking very hard lol hopefully it will work better for you. ive also found the longer you wear it the easier to remove... the polishes ive only had on for a few days compared to the two weeks are harder to come off than after two weeks... :)
