Hi everyone, I have just bought a new Birkin 35 and found out that the blind stamp contains letter S, specifically 160s. Does it mean my Birkin is sale item? The front of my bag below Hermes stamp has no S-code stamp, though.

Hi smurfsmurf. May I ask where you bought your bag? Did you buy it at an H boutique or from a reseller? I'm just a noob at H and I am looking at buying one with a similar stamp (no S though) from a respectable reseller. I postponed buying the bag due to the unusual stamping. Waiting for more info to arise. :)

Hi everyone.. :D

Just wondering, I am thinking of purchasing a Croco Birkin 35 from japan reseller. This will be my very first exotic skin birkin.. :D Anyway... some people mention that CITES is required for exotic Hermes bag, but when I asked the reseller, she said that unfortunately the CITES doc is missing.. the previous owner has misplaced it. :(

Now what I want to know is, if I actually really need that CITES at all? :confused1: And also if ostrich H bags would have CITES too???

Thanks all... :yahoo:

Exactly like SH_COOL, I'm thinking about buying a lizard and crocodile birkin from a Japanese reseller, but they said that the bag got no CITES.

What is cites? Do I really need that take the bags out of Japan to my home country? Or maybe is it possible to issue them, any cost?
Anybody with self-experiences please help me out.

Thank you in advance!

Ostrich does have a CITES. All exotic skins do. If you do not have CITIES for your croc birkin you will not want to travel with it. (the CITIES is your proof that the skin originated in another country and therefore you are not breaking any laws in the country you are visiting by having a possibly banned skin. Theoretically you could have your bag confiscated without it. )

Dear Midge S,

May i ask, is the CITES provided by the Hermes store usually an original document or do the Hermes store sometimes provide photocopy CITES document when one purchase an exotic leather bag? thank you.

I'm afraid I'm not an expert, but I believe it is an original document. They may be able to provide another one (or reproduce the original) , but I would expect they would only be able to if you purchased the bag directly from them. I suspect they would rather not do this though, as they would not want the documents to fall into the wrong hands.

Perhaps someone with more knowledge will chime in. I am more than happy to hear that I am wrong!

I definitely have gone off the deep end. This morning I actually weighed my B35 in clemence and my maxi caviar. On my bathroom scale, which of course may be a little off, they both weigh the same 2.8 pounds. I always wanted to compare. If anyone has similar information please share.
