I have loved handbags since I was a very young child, and have been through many designers, both contemporary and premier. My first 'nice' bag I bought for myself when I graduated college and got my first job was a Coach. I enjoyed their styles for many years. Although I owned a couple (what are now considered vintage LV's) from my aunt, I never really thought much of them until several years later. I am not much for logos on almost anything, but I have grown to love the classic look of the LV canvas. I bought my first LV several years ago and it has been LoVe ever since… love the timeless appeal and casual elegance of many of their styles!
I gradually sold/ gave away my other designers as I don't believe in hanging on to things I am not using.

No, I kept all of my bags, regardless of the brand, because I have enough love to go around in my closet and they represent me. The only time a purse was re-homed, usually with another member of my family, was because it no longer met the needs of my lifestyle and neither LV or Chanel was immune.

I'm right there with you! I have so many bags, designer and non-designer, and I love them all. They all get used at some point depending on the occasion/mood/color/weather/etc. In fact, if I parted with any of them I'm certain they'd be missed.

Nope, I love all my bags. There are so many people who carry LV's where I live that even though I love my LV bags there are many times I'm really glad I carry my contemporary designer bags.

I am in the process of getting rid of all handbags and wallets I no longer use, regardless of designer. I realize with my recent buying spree that I definitely have way too many bags. I have given some away to my daughter and some Ive sold. I will say that most are Coach and the few Michael Kors and Tory Burch bags I owned. Now when I purchase a bag, it has to fill a hole in my collection. I don't want to keep purchasing the same types of bag over and over again. Same goes for wallets. I'm tired of switching wallets to fit this bag or that bag. I guess I'm downsizing.

I only own LV bags, I am thinking of adding one Chanel flap to the mix, and maybe a Gucci.

I've given away all of my non LV bags with the affection of my long champs and a bag I purchased that was only made locally in Paris- I knew I would never carry them again so I wanted to free up the space for more LV:)

I've been selling bags I don't use anymore. Sold my entire Coach collection about a year ago, a lot of my MK collection and the few that haven't sold are listed for sale, my RM, KS, and TB are sold as well. I do like the one Kipling and one Lesportsac I received for going to games and some other events where I don't want to carry my LV or other designers. I love my two Longchamps in Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty prints for travel so won't sell them. I've decided to have a smaller, used regularly collection instead of lots that sit in my closet.

I've tried to use my contemporary designer bags but just can't as the feel of the bags really bother me now that I've experienced higher quality leather. So I've sold, donated, and gave them away. The only time I'd wear a contemporary bag is to Disneyland but even then I'd prefer to take a Gucci or LV crossbody bag. Sometimes I wish I hadn't experienced the buttery leathers because then I would never know the difference. 🙂

No. I love handbags and don't care about designer name or price. I do buy only leather bags but have a collection of them from Coach, Brahmin, Modalu, DKNY, to LV and Gucci.

Not every occassion needs a high end bag and often at job interviews or dinner with strangers or travelling to other countries, it's better to use a moderately priced bag.

Yes and no. Like most people I started with Coach. I only get one or two bags from the designers I love. So I get a bag and then a SLG. Once I got my Gucci and BV and Mulberry I found I enjoyed carrying those more. Not necessarily because of the designer but more so because I have found what works for my lifestyle. Make sense? For example - I had a coach that was very much like the Tivoli or sienna. I sold that. I never went to her anymore and she needed to be loved. Zippers are not my fav. I prefer top handle hand carry bags. Basically if it makes sense I experiment with less expensive bags and then graduate up to get more expensive versions of the style works for me. If it did not work for me then I sell it and move on. I do still have a few that I love. I have a DB bucket which I got from DH as a gift and that sucker is one heavy bag but it's so pretty and he gave it to me. I carry rarely. Lol. I also really love Longchamp bags - I only have one but really want a larger size tote. I recently fell in love with Henri Bendel. Such fun colors and designs. I am also a fan of Spartina 449. Again same reason as HB. So to sum up - if I want an LV I try to see if the design will work for me before buying and I also have my other fav that I love for the added flare or fun! I am down to a nice size of handbags which I feel a good quality and I am very pleased to have them in rotation. Lol.

I sold all my contemporary designer bags. (MK, Coach) Obviously for a fraction of the cost I bought them for. But once I stepped into luxury designers, I knew they didn't compare and I really hate to see things sit unused in my closet. The only bag I have that I don't really use is my Fendi Zucchino Baguette from like 2000/2002? It was one of my very first designer pieces so I try to pull it out once a year? lol

I bought also the MK SLoan .. Altought it looks very similiar to the Chanel flap bag.. it has a different openinig and has more space and the leather is smoother.. i just couldn´t justify spending so much on a chanel flap bag as I know i wouldn´t wear it often.. I just wear smaller bags in summer or sometimes to the cinema so that´s why I didn´t want to spend so much on the CC..

so for me it depends .. I like to have also MK bags when I go anywhere where a LV bag would be too much ... like when I´m in a poor country or when i go anywhere where I don´t want to take my LV bag ( nail studio..)
There are also some styles which I like more compared to other designers ( for example I like the ava more than the cluny and I think ava was the first and then LV brought out the cluny version wih epi leather) .. and there are also some MK bags which I would never buy.. (like the speedy/neverfull copyand also no signature bags) because I like the original style more.. It´s all preferences

I´m selling my lower priced bags when I want to have another lv bag .. so I´will sell again 2 mk bags to buy another lv bag but i will still keep 2-4 bags just to have some bags where I don´t mind getting dirthy..

I keep some Coach, Michael Kors, Kipling bags because there are places/events that I go to where I do not want to be targeted for theft nor have the bag get dirty/squished by crowds. Also, I use these bags for work/interviews/conferences. However, I will say that I no longer purchase these contemporary brands because I would rather save up my money for a luxury designer purchase. Purchasing less items also means my closet is less cluttered, which is a bonus!

I kept about a dozen Coach, 7 or 8 DB, 4 Brahmin, 3 MK, 5 Kate Spade, and sold dozens and dozens of these brands to buy LV,Burberry, A few Leather Longchamp, a YSL and a Prada. I also kept some fine Frye and MCM bags. I want to weed down a few more to buy the new LV damier duomo, then be done, really, I am actually ready, whoopee!!! I have a great assortment and don't have the I NEED MORE feeling anymore, it's more like, I HAVE GREAT BAGS I AM DONE.
