Designer Brands You Will Never Buy

Interesting how many people say Michael Kors. He happens to be my favorite handbag brand because the data I have reflect a bags that last for quite a substantial period of time. I also don't look at his bags as knock offs of other designs because the reality is.... I don't shop in the price range of a double zip Prada saffiano tote.... At those prices, I'm looking for a new refrigerator or even making an extra mortgage payment. It's hard to interpret a bag as a copy cat piece when the reality is you would never even know an original (I say that loosely) exist due to your life style. Therefore I don't have a "never " on a brand but perhaps a line I draw for when purchases become foolish based on my lifestyle.

My sentiments exactly! [emoji3]

Not sure about every comment, but causation and correlation are not the same thing.

Not all grandmothers wear Micheal Kors. All people who buy Micheal Kors are not grandmothers. And for a conclusion to be made, I think you'd probably have to figure out how to do a statistical analysis... like, you'd have to survey a lot of grandmothers and a sample size has to be big enough. You'd probably also have to factor in how accessible MK is, etc. how many stores in your city are MK or sells MK.

Ie.
Are you and grandmother?
Do you wear micheal kors handbags?

The design of the birkin is a head scratcher even though I think they are really pretty to look at and the leather wears really well and ages gracefully. And has great craftsmanship. The birkin is the most cumbersome bag I've seen in the lux. market though. the kelly is quite gorgeous though!

If you are referring to me, then I was joking, not fussing. I found the grandma comment funny. I love to laugh than take things so seriously. It makes life more fun. This thread here is to have fun. I think it's best for all of us to remember not to read too much out of people's comments.

I wasn't referring to anyone in specific. Had I been, I would have quoted them. I was referring to a general back and forth I was seeing and hoping that we could start enjoying each other's perspectives and do just what you said. Have fun!

The luxury Kors bags (skorpio in particular) are gorgeous. all the other Kors bags are sold everywhere including Goodwill. Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Ross are spilling into the aisles with them. While I pat him on the back for making a ton of money, his bags get cheaper and more tacky by the minute. Now a woman at work has a Kors bag that is beautiful, but it's at least 10-12 years old and you can see a huge difference in the product. Too greedy and too prolific.

I think when kors went public and was bought by Chou he lost a lot in terms of what he can say, emphasis is on secondary lines, I don't think he designs those or even approves of what he they have become,
I used to buy his ready to wear main line in the early 2000s , they were beautifully made and all of great quality,

This post has made the whole thread worth it.

Where? Where are the tj maxx and ross with these? I'm pretty sure I've never seen one at those places. Stupid central Illinois. I live on a target and old navy budget. I'd love s kors bag at Ross price.

Anyhow. While I can't buy any of them, I have some opinions on bags. And I don't get the love of Chanel. *ducks*
It's just so not my style.

Different strokes for different folks,

Where I live im probably the only person who doesn't get the appeal of Dior bags and fendi they are totally not me, I don't believe in buying a coveted bag just because it's so hot right now,

My only issue with MK bags is they look plasticky, and it feels like paying mid range prices for high street quality, there are much nicer and far better made bags out there within MK price range,

My Ross and TJMaxx carry MK on a regular basis.....and in fact my local Macy's gives so much more real estate to his bags than any other. I've never owned one and don't care for most of the ones I see because of the saffiano leather. Fine for a wallet, not for a bag imo.
But that's just my taste, he obviously sells a TON because I see a lot of women carrying them.
Personally I prefer to carry a bag that you don't see coming and going....again, just my own personal opinion.
I go more for the style of a bag than I do a label.

TJMAXX has online sales. Sign up next time you're in and they will send you invites.
Lots of MK but it goes fast.

Thanks for the info.

The stores in my area get mostly junk. Very rarely some dooney. If you're lucky they might have a couple fossil, lucky brand, or Patricia Nash bags. Other than that it's all stuff you could find at kohls.

Dillards has some great sales, and frequently has take an additional %. There should be a biggie the day after Christmas and again New Year's Day. Online sales are the same.
Patricia Nash bags are gorgeous, but to 70's for me.

My closest Dillard's is about an hour away. I'll have to keep an eye out for good online sales. I really appreciate the info. I generally just go to a store and buy what I want, but that doesn't work for me when what I want is $300. I don't really know how to find good deals.

Most major stores honor sale prices online. Coupons and codes are also usually offered online. Macy's runs take an additional sales and you can usually use coupons for those items too.
Get on the email lists of the major department stores and you'll get lots of info on what's coming up.
Bags and shoes go on sale about 3 weeks after they hit the floor. Permanent markdowns come at about 6 weeks.
Peruse the websites often and you will start to notice the patterns.
Big sales usually have free shipping if you spend X amount.
Hope this helps!!
