Designer Brands You Will Never Buy

I will add that I don't see the hype with Massaccesi bags here. I've never heard of them other than this forum, and though craftsmanship and leather quality may be great, I don't see much in designs. Some are just totes. I wish they'd have more stylish designs, then maybe I could get on board.

I may be alone here but I really do not see the appeal of Bottega Veneta..:shrugs: To me they look like beach bags

longchamp and balenciagia. i really dislike the apperance of both brands and i dont get why people love them so much. its just not my style thats all.

Agree on all of these! I've never seen the appeal in any of these brands

Longchamp, Bottega Veneta, Chanel, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton. I don't get the appeal. They're all boring or fuddy duddy/old fashioned to me. On the other hand, give me a nice Givenchy, Fendi, or Gucci bag - love those!

+1. Love Fendi, Givenchi and Gucci and agree with your never buy selection but I'd also add Proenza Schouler, their bags are only for the under 20's IMO.

I feel TPF is moving into the "never say never" camp. I always thought Hermes was so fuddy-duddy until I fell in love with the Herbag. Or Fendi was too logo-y and dull until Peekaboo (I haven't bought one yet, though). Miu Miu too childish, Prada and Longchamp too boring, Chanel too dull and blingy and once... but each of these brands has surprised me with fresh and amazing designs!

Right now the only brand in which I can't find anything to love is Goyard. It's a pretty print, but hearing what ladies on the forum have to say about the quality... and seeing the bags for myself with their untamed trim and skinny poorly sewn handles... yikes. What a con.

I agree with what you are saying. I do feel the need to stick up for Goyard though & say that I think it's unfair to judge the whole brand just based off of the St. Louis.

True. If/when I'm ever in the market for a 10,000 trunk I might re-evaluate ;) For now if I'm going for logo canvas, it's going to be LV or cheaper. I do feel like when a brand's most popular bag / major cash cow is so, so badly made, it reflects poorly on their commitment to quality and their respect for consumers. So that's what makes me not have faith in Goyard... because it's a quality issue, not a style issue.

I feel like this thread gets at not just the style of a brand but also, and more importantly, how we feel about it and the people who carry it. There's a lot of MK-hate around the common-ness of it, or how it's a "ripoff" of others and therefore no better than Charming Charlie. Or the sense that LV is too "showy" or Coach too "non-luxury." All this is about what we think of labels, not styles... my point is, right now the only brands I actually have skepticism about are the ones who often have issues with poor quality. That sounds like Goyard's basic tote, and maybe Prada and Tory Burch these days, too.

I actually respectfully disagree with your opinion of the St. Louis. I know some people feel that way about it, but I'm always surprised because my St. Louis has immaculate stitching, the handles don't feel like they're going to come off lol, all of the paint is still perfect, etc. I've been using mine just about everyday for 7 months, and it still looks brand new. I love the Goyardine with its cute little mini paintings, but the LV monogram always makes me think of fakes and Wingdings font.
I don't know why I feel compelled to stick up for Goyard lol. I just try to keep in mind that I don't really know the exact circumstances behind some of the complaints. Maybe their St. Louis was faulty, maybe they somehow also contributed to that faultiness by doing something that they then fail to mention. I don't know. I mean, Hermes doesn't have a quality issue per-say, but there's no excuse for a brand new 10K bag smelling like reefer, lol. I do know what you mean though.
