Designer Brands You Will Never Buy

I mainly dislike Tory Burch, Kate Spade, and ...Coach for the most part, because honestly coach has been overdone, I think they ruined themselves with so many factory stores. .....I'd really like to know what kind of job I could have had at 17 to own a Celine.......and A DIOR AND CHANEL!!!! But yet here I am at 27 and all I can afford is MK....But I digress....

At 17 your job would have had to be "heiress." Mommy would buy you a little flap to go with her big one. :)

Luxury brands make money because they're not selling their quality to you, they're selling your quality to you... which is why LV and Chanel are made in China right next to the LV and Chanel replicas.

+1!
Maybe I'm from a different time and quite long past 17 :-) but I always thought 17yr olds had things to do other than collect fancy bags. Like study and buy clothes at the Gap, like normal teenagers. its some bizarre universe where 17yr olds claim they're "mature". If such a thing was possible ( which its not because your BRAIN isnt done growing till you're 25) these mature 17yr olds would not be proclaiming class boundaries based on handbag ownership.
But what do I know, I dont mind a little Coach and MK in my life.

As a student who could only look at premium designer brands and hope to buy them one day, I had these grandiose ideas about all the bags I was going to collect in my closet. Now after years of studies that included med school, I am able to afford all the bags I could ever want, with one pay check. But I have seen so much loss and suffering that I feel guilty spending 10k on a bag when my patients cannot spend $10 for a meal. Therefore, I stick to locally crafted mid priced brands. Years ago I needed a luxury handbag for confidence, now that comes Fro within

Very well said.

Do you still like this forum?

I have no idea why it is an issue for you guys about me being 17 and owning designer goods.
I hope some of you know that 17 year olds do have jobs nowadays...I'm no "heiress" (I would have to be a girl to be an heiress.) that has his "mommy" buy him nice bags that matches hers.
I work 7 days a week on top of being a full time student and the school I commute to gave me a full scholarship so all of the money I make can be used for these purchases.
I grew up with parents that started a business from scratch which propelled me to learn to work hard get what I want from a very young age.

The brain is not PHYSICALLY mature until you are 25...but, there are many other factors that contribute to a person that possesses a mature personality. Maturity and immaturity is variant among people of all ages. Not all 17 year olds are impulsive and immature like Holden Caulfield. (He is definitely not an archetype for all the teenagers out there.)

I hope this shows that I do have other things to do other than collect fancy bags.

Oh and I did not proclaim class boundaries so please stop twisting my words. I said I felt pity because I THINK (<--opinion not factual) that MK customers have been lied to and deceived with something that they find as a quality designer goods when its something that is mass produced and overpriced.

Now please can we get

I don't want to be nosey, but what do you do? At 17 all I could afford was a Kathy VanZeeland (cringes) And I lived at home and saved money and worked while going to school. Add Kathy to the list of Bags I would never buy (again).I don't even think it is a name recognized on this forum, but it had gained minor popularity about 6 years ago with the affordable crowd...

Some 17ish don't have to work to get the nice things:) and I think nothing wrong with that if the parents are willing to spend on them.

Not taking any sides here but I will say that at 17 I started a blog that SERIOUSLY took off and I am still doing that now at 21 (while I'm in school of course). I don't want to brag or disclose but I was able to do extremely well for my age doing that so although more rare, it's definitely possible to make good money at a young age!

I work for my parents. (They own a real estate company and a few convenient stores.)
