Clearly Chanel isnt for everyone!
I'm a sucker for a classic jumbo flap - NOT black though. But all the newer stuff, Boy bags, wallet on chain, etc, I would pass on.
There is no Gucci I like. Either too flashy or too boring.
I dont get Vera Bradley. Why would anyone want a bag made out of flowery fabric that looks like someone's housecoat?
Also I dont want stuff hanging off my bags, like tassels and metal things, so I'll pass on Rebecca Minkoff and Balenciaga.
Would not get a Celine. Luggage tote as a purse? Nah.
My problem with Michael Kors is less the boring designs and more the excessive hardware.
I'm over Coach its so abominably overdone. Everyone has one. I'd rather save money and have Fossil, I think they are cuter and way cheaper. Coach isnt worth the premium anymore.
Love your response, to cute and funny :smile1::smile1:
I agree with everything you said especially your take on Vera Bradley bags, never got the appeal either!

Michael Kors: It is so basic and I basically feel pity for the people that use them.

Hermes: The birkin and kelly is just getting ridiculous and I think they are ugly, overrated, and way too expensive. Sadly my mom is already planning on purchasing her 4th birkin. :nogood::nogood:

Louis Vuitton Monogram: I do not like the monogram on bags. However, for SLGs and smaller stuff I think the monogram is perfect.

I love/wear: Celine, Balenciaga, Dior, Chanel, Gucci (Leather only) and A LOT more Celine.
Oh and I Like Coach leather but NOT the monogram

I don't really hate designer brands. Its all about personal taste, budget and how the bag will be used.

Everyone has their own sense of style, which is why there are so many brands out there to choose from.

I totally agree with both these points. 👍

While I won't say never about any brand, I don't see myself buying Michael Kors or those with ubiquitous monograms anytime soon. ;)

You pity MK users.... (chuckles).... ? Expressing dislike for a brand is one thing, however, a condescending comment to a large group of people is distasteful and disrespectful.

Well people call some brands "trashy" on here which basically means the the person using them is trashy as well...everyone always says "a handbag says a lot about a person's personality." If someone thinks the brand is trashy then chances are they will most likely think the person carrying it is trashy as well...
No need to call me out only. At least I was honest and explicitly wrote what I truly felt about the brand. MK basically copied other designer brands' handbags and it is not right at all.

I feel like people on this board are pretty respectful on the whole. I also consider MK a basic mall brand but I don't think people who wear MKs are trashy, I just think they're buying what they like & can afford. And at that not everyone is super into purses even if they can afford higher end designers. For example one of my BFFs is "whatever" about handbags but owns 3 BMWs

I don't know I guess in life I've seen just as much rude behavior from people wearing LV (my fav) or Chanel as I have from people wearing MK or Coach. Even though I love purses, I don't think a handbag is an extension of anyone's personality or of how nice a person they are by any means!

I have a newly adopted 'never say never' attitude in regards to brands after I bought a LV recently having thought I was unlikely to ever own one.. and I am now loving LV :D.

I buy what catches my eye and takes my fancy, regardless of the brand.

I'm sorry if you feel I am calling on you out; however, I am just trying to rectify what appears to be an inaccurate assumption about a large group of individuals. I like MK bags and have quite a few. I find the bags to be a durable and an economical solution that allows me to afford my other life pursuits.

Not sure that the trashy vibe they seem to give you fits well with my PhD, position as an university instructor, and current clinical director of a local treatment center. I don't think the bag I carry defines me as some lower class trashy person that should looked upon with pity. It is just that simple. It is unfortunate that those biases influence how you perceive those around you. As adults we should be able to set a better example than making comments that parallel those made by children still in high school. I think my perspective on this topic transcends this conversation and applies to those that insult others who purchase high-end designers as well. If you don't like a brand... for whatever reason... just be respectful to other members on tPF.

Best wishes.

+1 I've got an eclectic bag collection. A little LV, dior, chanel, MK & even some British high street brands such as marks & Spencer.

I never thought I'd ever get a lv, but fell in love with the Noe bb in epi. I'm not a great fan of monogram, but again fell in love with a gucci Boston with stars & their traditional gucci webbing.

I've now got the attitude of if I like it, I'll go for it. Another brand I wasn't too sure about is Coach, in the UK it's a relatively new brand, but yesterday I saw the Crosby bag in embossed Python, the colours on this bag are amazing, it's now the next bag in my list.

I think if I restrict myself with certain brands I might miss a design/style/print/colour I love. Each to their own though, which I guess makes us all different & allows all brands have a piece of the action.

I believe the poster is 17 (based on another thread).

I did not say I personally find them "trashy." I said that to show that other members on this forum say more offensive things than what I said and that there was no reason to say that I was being "disrespectful" when there were far more worse things said about the brand like calling a brand "trashy." And I've noticed that people tend to incorporate style with personality all the time. If a person finds something as part of their outfit "trashy" then chances are they will find the person "trashy" as well. It's almost like how people call women "s**ts" when they wear revealing clothing.

I feel pity because I think the customers are being used. They are forced into thinking they are buying quality designers when it is actually something that was probably made in a sweatshop in China so that MK can make a few extra bucks. It is overpriced for what they are and it is a rip-off of other brands. MK totally copied LV, Bal, Valentino, Prada, etc. The bags lack not only quality but also originality.

But that is just my opinion on why I don't like the brand. For those that enjoy the brand then that is fine. I just wanted to post my opinion.

...Yes I am...and your point is? I'm immature because I'm 17? Okay you can think that. That is fine.

What happened to "age is just a number" ???
I personally don't think anything of the fact that you're 17. I'd say you are very lucky at your age to have such nice handbags. Perhaps I could learn some tips from you on how you are able to save and purchase Balenciaga and Celine bags!

Congrats!
