Designer Brands You Will Never Buy

Coach, Michael Kors, Kate Spade - basically 'contemporary' designers. They look like they're targeted at young girls, tricking them into thinking they've bought their first piece of 'luxury' or whatnot. The workmanship's not great, it's more than likely made in China or India or somewhere with cheap labor, and once you outgrow it, there's no point in selling it, because you won't get much of your money back anyway.

Oh, and Gucci and Louis Vuitton monogram. Just not a fan of the incessant reminder of the label I guess..

MK for all the reasons many others have already said, and I also couldn't stand him on Project Runway heh :p

Of course even he didn't come of as badly as Zac Posen did for me - Was indifferent to his clothing and handbags before, but now can't even see his label without rolling my eyes. Maybe its just me but he comes off so condescending and obnoxious.

Coach - oversold, nothing exciting for me, prices eh for the quality, and horrible service (a sales associate once stuck his finger in my face when I tried asking a question while helping my mother buy some gifts. Ugh I can't tell you're listening to something in your earpiece, just excuse yourself like a normal human being with some basic manners.)

I do agree with the others who posted never say never because when I was younger I told myself I'll never get a Chanel bag because it's obviously expensive. But now that I'm older and wiser :) I changed my mind especially when I saw the boy bags, I fell in love. :) I also didn't like MK bags before (sorry) but my aunt gave me the jet set tote and I kinda liked it. :) Maybe, the least likely bag that I'll buy now is Coach.

No judgement to those who carry the below brands . . . Personal taste.

MK by MIchael Kors--blatant and uninspired knockoffs in my opinion. Don't even consider it designer
Fendi--i would simply never carry one. Ever.
Rebecca Minkoff--I don't get the appeal at all
Alexander Wang--boring
Goyard--I honestly feel they are overpriced for what they are.

Personally, I don't like guess.....some too blingy, too shiny and quality doesn't look that great. Not a fan of Alexander Wang either..maybe its coz Im not into studs under bags etc. Don't get Vera Bradley either....

I love balenciaga but the only thing I hate about it is the regular hardware!!. I feel like the regular hardware just makes the bag look sad and depressing... It just doesn't appeal to me. And when it the hardware color fades it look bleh! It makes the bag look dead and cheap. Its so weird that I would only carry a balenciaga if the hardware is the giant 12! Like just the type of studs makes a huge difference for me. I looooove giant 12 hardware. I HATE giant 21 because It is waaay too big, not my taste.

Ha! I am a rare giant 12 lover too. Unfortunately the color selection for G12 is rather limited because it is a recent design. For older bags I can only settle for RH. As much as I love Balenciaga I just can't get into G21.

Dior - I really just don't get them, especially diorissimo.
Coach and Michael Kors give me teenage vibes and I think they're very overpriced for what they are.
Gucci and Radley I find quite tacky and gimmicky. Love the idea of bamboo handles but the actual bags attached to them just don't seem quite right. MIL *loves* Radley, I've just had to buy her birthday presents from there, again, and was decidedly underwhelmed, again.
Longchamp - reminds me of uni students as literally everybody had them in some way, shape or form.

I care about the proportions of the bag when compared to a person's physique. I see many bags i would personally never wear look good on other people.

But i like bags like ps1 (medium) on my body frame and coz of my obsession with clean lines.

I like brown bags that are easy to wear and in non-patent leathers: Campamaggi being my fav.

I like my evening bags in the proportions of chanel boy bag. I own stella Mccartney and mk metallic colors.

I cant see bags just as a brand. I always hated on MK coz i only saw the very in your face ones. But when i saw their solon bag, its a beautiful bag over everything else. So changed my mind.

Based on my personal style, bags i will avoid: bags with big ratio of hardware to leather(ps11, mulberry). Bags with lot of pattern or texture. Bags flop on the floor when placed on the floor. Of Course, i will try to buy the best bags i can afford based on some assessment of quality.

Love this thread. I agree with so many people here. But had to put out what i like before what i dont like.

Miu Miu!
A few years ago I bought the bow bag in mughetto and after carrying it (and babying it) only a few times, it started to peel off at the corners and and the colour went greenish/black. I'm still annoyed about it so I'm never buying anything again from Miu Miu!!!

I will never completely close myself off to any brand, but currently, i do not see myself buying:

Coach. Some of their more classic, simple styles are okay, but I find the majority missing something to make them high fashion and buy-worthy. Unfortunately I also associate the brand with suburban women who feel Coach is super high end. But that's just me being a snob.

Michael Kors. Same reasons as most everyone else. Designs are ehh and I don't like the hardware. And the brand itself.

Dooney and Bourke. Nothing about the styles and brand appeal to me.

Versace. Aside from red carpet gowns, it's all too flashy and tacky for my tastes.

Alexander Wang. I get it for the edgy chicks, but that Rocco bag is so overrated. Like a soft speedy with studs on the bottom. Not impressive.

Brands like Guess, Fossil, etc.
