Designer Brands You Will Never Buy

Oh, and Gucci and Louis Vuitton monogram. Just not a fan of the incessant reminder of the label I guess..

Agreed! The monogram bags have become such a target for fakes, I could never bring myself to buy one. I know when I see someone carrying a LV monogram bag (even if it's very likely it's real), it reminds me of the tacky fakes markets I've seen during my travels. Very sad what fakes have done to the LV brand IMO...

And I'm almost ashamed to admit it (please don't hurt me TPFers :sweatdrop:), but I think I'm the only person on the planet who reallllly dislikes Chanel. I've forced myself into the boutiques so many times, thinking one day I will finally fall in love, but it hasn't happened. I just don't get Chanel at all. I think it's the quilting and metal chains? :shrugs:

Nah... you are not alone... Not only do I not see the big appeal of Chanel but I also love MK...

Based on this thread, I feel like the ultimate traitor! (((chuckles)))

I respect everyones choices tho... you have to do what works for you!

I actually tend to agree on the Chanel - the classic quilting and the leather/chain combo has been copied by every cheap mall store and sold to aspiring preteen girls enough that it's just completely lost its appeal to me.
The Boy bag is still on my wish list, but as far as the classic quilted bags go, I think I'll pass.

No, you're not. I've never seen the great appeal either. Don't hate them, but don't love them. Nothing wrong with that at all!

Although I have one of his bags from years ago, I will never by another Michael Kors bag. He is horrid with knocking off other designs. I just have a paper/straw tote that I take on beach or tropical vacations. Luckily it is unique. However, whenever I pass the MK section, my eyes just roll with the knock-offs. He can critique young wannbe designers but he cannot produce an original bag?

Chanel and LV with a couple exceptions. I personally like edgy statement bags, Chanel feels mostly bland and, when carried, seems to act solely as a conveyer of wealth and status. I don't look at someone carrying a Chanel bag (typically) and think: "wow she has great style," I think: "wow she must have tons of money." I have similar feelings about LV. There doesn't seem to be anything really original about carrying LV...I've worked at Barney's, Saks, Nordstrom, Bloomies and Neimans -- as an SA and personal stylist -- and I've never styled anyone with LV. Neither do SAs really care if you're carrying one (disrupting the myth that SAs profile you by your bag, not that you're dressing for an SA anyway ;) ) because we see them so often. I don't care if I never see another Neverfull in my life.

Other brands I learned to dislike through work are: Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Kate Spade (though she does cute whimsical stuff sometimes), MBMJ -- again with some exceptions, Betsey Johnson, Prada, Gucci, Chloe.

Stumbled in this thread.

For me, Coach, Dooney, Vera Bradley all feel the same - overpriced suburban mom bags with no style.
I haven't yet seen a Chanel that does it for me. Not into the quilting, the metal chain, or shoulder bags in general
I don't like the LV bags that are common for knockoffs (though I will admit to a youthful indiscretion buying one of the candy color monogram bags that was clearly counterfeit while on vacation in Puerto Rico. I was ignorant and poor. I still had it but hadn't used it in years and donated it to goodwill with a note inside explaining it was fake.) but, I do like the epi leather and the shiny patent monogram in that delicious plum color.

Clearly Chanel isnt for everyone!
I'm a sucker for a classic jumbo flap - NOT black though. But all the newer stuff, Boy bags, wallet on chain, etc, I would pass on.
There is no Gucci I like. Either too flashy or too boring.
I dont get Vera Bradley. Why would anyone want a bag made out of flowery fabric that looks like someone's housecoat?
Also I dont want stuff hanging off my bags, like tassels and metal things, so I'll pass on Rebecca Minkoff and Balenciaga.
Would not get a Celine. Luggage tote as a purse? Nah.
My problem with Michael Kors is less the boring designs and more the excessive hardware.
I'm over Coach its so abominably overdone. Everyone has one. I'd rather save money and have Fossil, I think they are cuter and way cheaper. Coach isnt worth the premium anymore.
