In order to stop denim dye from rubbing onto your handbags, ALWAYS wash (especially new) denim with a quarter cup of vinegar and detergent (NO SOFTENER). After that, your denim should stop bleeding onto all of your bags/clothes/etc. This also helps your denim from fading faster because you're stopping the dye from bleeding all the time.

What did you use to pre-treat? And has it prevented any color transfer and staining on your Azur bags?

So, this has worked well for me for years with no problems at all. I spray my bags down with Kiwi Multi-Purpose Shoe protector. They have one specifically for leather, and then they have one friendly for multiple fabrics. I also massage them with pure shea butter. Not the lotion kind, but the pure stuff straight from the shea nut. My bags have been great, but I realize such steps would be scary to a lot of people!

Thanks! I treat the vachetta on my bags, but haven't done the canvas yet (have not yet used my new azur Galliera). I was thinking that treating with some sort of "butter" would be a good idea and might avoid staining from denim or other clothing dyes. Thanks for the helpful tips.

i wonder if treating the azur canvas with some sort of protectant or "butter" will turn the canvas yellow in the long run? Thoughts?

Quite possible. I also recall one of the TPF leather experts recommending plain old Armor All for the vinyl outer surface of the canvas... I may try that.

i have a brand new azur speedy and i always get complements anywhere i go. i am afraid of the staining too but its pretty so....... i cant give it up. however i dont think you can really clean any stains on the body

I got my Azur NF mm a month about 3 weeks ago & have used it for 2 of those weeks, so far no staining, I would get the Azur I love it & have had so many compliments, I would just be a bit careful where you put the bag, dont put it on the floor, if your at a restaurant put it on a chair if you can, I dont think you would get any colour transfer from jeans as the bag is too hish up when you have it on your shoulder so wouldnt rub on jeans, I am not sure about coats. :yahoo:

I find Neutrogena eye makeup remover got most of any transfer out ;) I just try to use my Azur only with neutral/light coloured clothes as I stained a really nice Fossil suede tote with my dark jeans.

When I went to my LV store to buy my Totally in azur, I was wearing a denim jacket and the first thing the SA told me was to be careful since it could rub off on the purse. That's the thing with azur, you have to be careful. I'll only use it on sunny days and never in the rain since I dont want colors to rub off on it. I would also be careful with placing the bag on floors. With my mono, it never mattered because the color was dark, but for my azur, I either hang it on a chair, or some drug stores sell those purse hooks where you can hang your bags from the restaurant tables. They work OK and keeps your azur clean.

I don't know if this would help, but I was reading a thread by docride on leather care and somewhere in the thread it was recommended that vinyl protectant was good for softening stiff or dried out canvas.

A few months ago I bought a used Azur Speedy for summer. While it wasn't really dried out, I sprayed a rag with Lexol's Vinylex protectant and lightly wiped down the canvas. It really brought back a nice shine, not greasy, and I feel the bag has a measure of protection against color transfer. At a minimum I hope it can be wiped off if I get to it quickly. The brand mentioned in that thread was Armorall, but I always like and prefer Lexol products.

Mind you, I did this for protection, not after the fact.
