It stands for January 2009. Coach does do the letters to represent each month starting with A and ending with M. They do not use I for some reason. I have no clue why they do it. So
A= January
B=February
C=March
D=April
E= May
F=June
G=July
H=August
J=September
K=October
L=November
M=December.

Then of course the number stands for the year. So 01=2001 and so on.

Thanks for that info...interesting!

Well now that makes sense. I was confused when I counted letters and L was 12 and I had an M. But seeing as there is no I it all makes sense. So my bag was made in Dec of 09. I should check out my other creeds. I could have Coach birthdays :)

Hi,

I have a question about the number on Coach creed.

Do all the bags that have the same configuration have the same number inside the bag (Jxxxx-xxxx)?

Is it possible that the first alphabet will be a different alphabet but the rest of the number is the same number?

For example, J0971-14473 and G0971-14473.... but they both are the same style of the bag.

Thank you in advance.

Yes I think it is possible :D The alphabet represents the month of the production. I guess sometimes the alphabets are different for the same style bag because they were from different batches. Hope that makes sense.

I'm glad you said that because I have bags with serial numbers beginning with E, K, I, H and C. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I can't think of months beginning with any of those letters.

So it is possible that same style of bag will have the different of the letter, right? Just want to make sure... because i have the same bag in different color. and both of them has different alphabet.

thank you

Yes, it is. For example, I bought a Hamptons Hobo and the first one I bought was damaged and I got a replacement, they had different letters on the bag. It just means that it was produced in different months. The style number remains the same though.

lol...don't feel dumb! I NEVER would have known that if the kind ladies on here hadn't informed me!

ETA: Not laughing at you! Just the phrase extra crispy dumb. Too funny!

I found a note between two 6th grade girls about 5 years ago and one of them referred to a boy as being ugly. The other wanted to know how ugly and she wrote "extra crispy ugly" and the other said "oh", like that made perfect sense.

Apparently, she had a boyfriend who was a twin and needed to clarify whether it was the cute one of the ugly one. I taught them the next year and one was rather unfortunate.
