My mom has a big birthday coming up and I lucked into a Togo craie 30B, brushed gold hardware for her. She’s not all that careful with her bags, so I just told her no pens if she can avoid. and, pls don’t clip four phones to the sides (she did this to a 30 VN black Birkin that I loaned her, and I just said, pls keep that one. I’m compiling a list of things (like no pens, no phones) and I will add no dark denim.

I read the whole thread ; thank you all for sharing your experiences. BYW, she asked me if she could wear it in the rain with the rain coat, and I said, if it starts raining, take off your coat and cover the bag with it and run. Bc the rain coat will not protect the handles. . .

Do you guys use twillies? I’m not that fond of twillies or bag organizers but my bags are generally darker.

What a great present for your mother! I can relate to the list of do's and don'ts for your mom. ;) I'm trying to picture though how she does four phones to the sides...:confused1:

Sounds like twillies would be helpful for your mom to protect the handles. But if she's anything like mine, she may not...

I use subtle colored/patterned twillies on my craie birkin. My SA strongly advised me too. This is the only bag I carry with twillies 100% of the time. My other colors, it's on occasion but not regular. HTH.

Do tell how you're keeping that beautiful Craie bag pristine? I'd like to get a bag in that color as well but scared to get it dirty or nicked because of the very light color. TIA!
I usually don't carry craie or light color bags if I wear jeans. And I use baby wipes to clean the bags as soon as i notice any stain or dirt on them.

So my mom has had her birthday Birkin for almost a year. She’s not really careful, overstuffs it, and drags it around (but she’s mainly in the back seat of a car. I did tell her to avoid pens. It looks great.

i have a craie epsom mini Della cavalleria which has sailed through a bit of drizzle with flying colors. I drop a bit of curry and once a bit of Dessert on it; quickly wiped off, no issues. It’s changed my mind about epsom, at least for this bag. It’s not exactly a workhorse as I rotate my bags pretty thoroughly, but I did take it traveling and it looks great. I use it as a pop of winter white. i have to note that I rarely if ever wear denim and I don’t let any pens near the bag.

but, color transfer typically an issue with your clothes that can be remedied (whenever I think I will have an issue, I google tips. Honestly I am more concerned about dark clothing pressing and transferring on lighter clothing whihc is why I arrange stuff by color in the closet lol

@Hfan2021, as per @meta’s suggestion  I found posts 1-8 or 10 extRemely comprehensive, such as, dark denim tips, pollution issues and test for color fast fabric (as per @QuelleFromage) ; insert (@HKsai ) ; Yearly H cleaning and 20 Fourbi pouch (as per @DoggieBags ) subtle colored twillies (as per @Txoceangirl ) etc . @kleider mentioned blakc spots on epsom but that hasn’t been my experience. (My apologies in advance if I have misspoken re anyones advice). I believe other posts above advise against using baby Wipes And DIY cleaning in case of issues.

this may not be applicable but I once bought a very very pale preloved blue gray box jige. It had some yellowing on the strap that I thought I could overlook, but no. So I rehomed it. I guessed that this may be due to sun exposure, but IDK. I keep all of my bags out of the sun. And I try to make sure my bags dont rub up against each other.

Good luck

This is an older photo of my Craie BdC clutch. It’s held up great, but since it’s a clutch, it never hangs from a strap rubbing against my clothes. It looks the same as it did when I got it. I don’t carry it frequently, but I do use it and still love it. I would definitely consider adding another bag in craie if the option popped up.

Finally after a very long wait.... Mini k in Nata GHW.

Love the bag but the thoughts of how to keep it pristine scares me. If anyone have any tips on how to avoid colour transfer pls do share. Thanks!

I have your bags sister , K20 epsom Nata phw. My advice to you is :

1- rotate bags and don't use it every day for more than a week.
2- hand carry it whenever you can to avoid color transfer from jeans or black cloths .
3- make sure your hands are clean.
4- make sure not to touch you face then your bag if you have foundation on.
5- don't take it to the salon or nail parlor.
6- be carful around colored drinks.
7- use Collonil Delicate Cream for Leather Care when ever you see and discoloration .

they might feel too much to you , but I do this with all my bags and it abled me to use them freely and enjoy any color .

Happy owner of a craie k28 here! I had exactly the same concerns that you had going in, and pored over every post in this thread.

Now 4 months in, I'm back here to chip in with my little two cents: Miss Craie has been holding up fabulously! I don't wear any denim or clothes that might bleed colour, and have had no colour transfer so far. I wrapped a twilly around the handle just so my grubby paws don't sully it.
As for durability, I carry her around with as much carefreeness as my black and gold babies.

As long as you're not a perfectionist, you'll be just fine :)

Do you wear her exclusively in light/white clothing, or with any colour that you feel confident will not transfer? K28 craie sounds like a beautiful bag.
