I have a evelyne 33 in beton Clemence and had not had any problems. Granted I don’t wear denim but I do wear dark clothing (shirt, cardigan...). Since the evelyne is unlined so I do use a insert. I would say that mine is still in great condition.
Good to know - I'm dark plus denim so this is helpful. What insert do you use? I find the TPM is so teensy that an insert would take up too much room for me... maybe without an insert it would be too risky?
I wear dark clothing all the time! I know others that use an interior but I dont and I’ve never had problems with any of my bags. Good luck on your decision.
Thank you!
Most clothing is colorfast. The issues come from anything that is not, like denims or most things dyed with indigo. When in doubt, rub a light colored cloth or lightly damp cotton pad against the item, that can help. For me a bigger problem with light bags is literally air pollution - at least in cities like Shanghai, Delhi, etc., particulate settles on the bags eventually. I wipe mine off regularly. I don't know that I'd get a very expensive bag in Craie, Beton, etc. unless it was a durable leather like Clemence that I would be comfortable cleaning often.
This is so helpful! Pollution isn't a huge issue where I am but sorry to hear it is for you. Which leathers do you consider durable? And which do you consider "fragile"?
I got a b25 beton in Togo this summer and have used it with jeans and navy blue shirts with no issues of color transference. The 20 pouch fits my b25 well for an interior liner. I was considering a craie GP36 but was told by my SA that color transference would be a problem because of where that bag would rub against my jeans constantly whereas the b25 would not be in contact with my clothing as much. My SA said if I was prepared to either ignore color transfer or be willing to send my GP once a year for cleaning then go ahead and buy the GP36 craie so I did not buy it. But then I see HKsai saying his Beton Evelyne has been fine and an Evelyne would be constantly in contact with your clothes so now i’m reconsidering that GP craie
What is a "20 pouch"? I too was disuaded by the SA and am now really rethinking! Almost bought a craie Evie and wishing i had!
This was key for me with craie. I love cream colors but I had a B25 in craie swift. The combination of the delicate leather and the light color scared me to death. I loved the bag so much but I don't want to have to baby a bag or worry all the time when carrying it so I let it go. I think this color fam is best in a heartier leather like togo (for me personally).
I too would hate to baby a bag, it's just not in my nature. Would you share what delicate/fragile leather is vs. hearty leather in the H world? I've never seen togo but I do regularly see Epsom... is that hearty?
I’ve used my Craie GP most of the summer and it’s held up nicely. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this color again.
Thank you!! Do you wear it only with light/summery clothes?
Have a Beton Evelyne TPM and no issues with color transfer. This one is mostly used in summer with light colors, but have worn on occasion with denim. Could be the Clemence leather that makes it easy to wear. Inside is unfinished so nothing is tossed loosely inside, just use small pouch. No problem. I can imagine leather makes the deciding factor here.
Thank you! That's the exact bag I want. I can't use a pouch persay but I don't let misc. things go inside my TPM, just a wallet (black leather, Celine), a H piccolo case or a Bastia, car keys and my airpods. Minimal. With those things would you think it'd mark up the inside with Beton or Craie color?
Beton Evelyne TPM owner too here, totally used it with jeans and have no problem. That being said...I would always be more careful with lighter colors. I also wouldn't go for a very expensive bag in such light color + delicate leather combo like some others here.
Good call - I do love the Ks in light colors but probably too impractical for me. I would likely only get a lower cost bag (Evie) in a light color.
I have a Halzan in craie clémence and it’s a few years old and no problems at all. I do not wear it with denim though....
I have a Craie B30 Togo that I use quite frequently and have never had any issues. I think they key is just to be smart. I don’t baby my bags, but I also am mindful. I don’t wear this bag with denim, but I wear it with other dark coloured clothing quite often - no issues. It seems to me that many of the colours and leathers that are most feared - Craie and other light colours, Swift, Barenia et al - are actually the most functional and forgiving.
Like I asked others above, would you be willing to share what you consider a durable/forgiving leather vs one you wouldn't trust in a light color? I am a denim girl though so I can't get a light bag if denim is a no-no!
I have retourne Kelly in Craie (clemence). I dropped it face down in a parking lot (elbow height straight to the floor) and when I picked it up it's covered with dirt and foliage. But no wiping was needed just a few gentle pats and everything disappeared in seconds. I think these colors are easy to maintain if you have clemence (and togo). My Epsom bags are in fact my trouble babies.
Good to know! I keep seeing Epsom bags online (preloved) in light colors in Epsom and feel that wouldn't be a good choice. Are there any other durable/forgiving leathers beside Clemence and Togo?
And sometimes it's more than just pure functionality. Though I don't want another Epsom bag, I would take a K25 Sellier Craie GHW in a heartbeat.
You would take another K25 but just *not* in epsom? Which leathers do you like?
B30 Craie togo owner here. I’ve worn mine with denim and darks with no issue. I don’t baby my bags....I keep it real. No issues or color transfer for me... go for it, get the bag!
TAHNK YOU! So happy to hear this (and about your good spa experience!)
