i think o6 got a bad rap too... the majority of o6's i have felt are nicer than the o8's i have felt. it's all a personal opinion though. the o6's i have seen are thinner, more marbled but very soft... whereas the o8's i've seen are thicker and stiffer (not as soft). but i am sure it all varies, it could be that the NM's i went to got a bad batch of o8's :(

I think that 08 leather has a lot in common with 06 leather in that it varies greatly from bag to bag. If you can check out/get info on the bag before you buy, it's helpful. That said, the leather on my 06 Black City is absolutely stunning. Really, really black, super silky and it looks almost liquid when it puddles into a slouchy heap. I bought it off ebay from a very trustworthy PF'er and you could tell from the pictures what the leather was like. You know,now that I think upon it - I've seen mostly really nice blacks and whites from 06 - it was the colors that had such variable leather.

i don't have an 08 bag, but I can tell you that the leather on my 06, while thinner than 05, is sturdy and broke in PERFECTLY. It didn't fade and I use it a lot. I couln't be happier!

For me, on the whole, 06 was bad for me. I always seemed to get the thin, veiny bags sent to me. Yet, on tPF I saw many gorgeous smooth and thick 06 leathers. I am guilty of bagging the 06 leathers, but I am starting to come around now. I am really wanting to find an 06 Sapin, as I have consistently heard the Sapin leather was the best of 06.

I concur that 06 got a bad rap..
The only 06 bag I have ever had is Blue India Twiggy *which now has gone to a very loving home of a fellow TPFer..
The leather on this is so thick and less distress..It's even thicker than my 04 or 05..I have also seen how beautiful Rouge VIF leather is..

So I think it varies with the colour and the style of the bag..

I have a black '06 Purse with great leather. It's really soft and smooshy, with great distressing. I don't have an '08 to compare it to, but the '06 definitely has some goodies.

ITA!!! I had a Sapin box that I gave to my sister. The leather was thicker than my Ink city.

South-of-France, your lovely Black City looks to have the same texture as my Cognac City. I don't know a lot about Bal leathers, but if our bags are typical of 06 leather, I'd say that year rocks!

i just my frist balenciaga bag.... and its o6 and the leather is like so000o great and its like slouchy and fluffy really thick so if this is a bad year then i gotta see what the best year feels like ....... if they all feel like minez then o6 is a good year !
