  • is it good?
  • and does it get better over the weeks,months,years?
im getting a weekender from this year so i was just wondering,
i dont want to get it and be disapointed YA NO ?

I think pretty much all bbag leather gets more supple with time and good care. Enjoy your WE!!

I'm planning on purchasing my first bbag and ws going to go thru Balnyc. I'm looking as the sahara city rhw...it will be sight unseen and now I'm getting a little worried that the '08leather is maybe too thin and not the typically mooshy supple leather Balenciaga is known for. should I avoid the bags for now?:confused1:

carrieg I definitely don't think you should avoid buying a bag- although some years can be generalized as better than others, it's really dependent on 2 things: your own personal preference and the leather on that individual bag. For example, 2006 is considered a "bad" year, but there are quite a few 06 bbags out there that still have beautiful yummy leather. I have a 2006 black first, and the leather is smoother, but also thicker than my 2005 bags, and soft and smooshy. Since you're purchasing sight unseen, I'd ask the SA to find you a bag with the leather you want. Ask for Kim- she gets great reviews on this forum. Keep in mind BalNY doesn't allow returns, so you might want to investigate other retailers that do allow returns (check out the Bal Retailers thread in the shopping section). Also keep in mind that prices are supposed to go up for f/w 2008, so you might want to buy the bag now, at the lower price. Good luck!

Specifically, maybe I should ask '06 vs. '08.
Can anyone give me some insight please.

Besides being absolutely crazy sick obsessed about getting my black City and not being able to make up my mind between the GSH and RH :hysteric: - now I am on a couple of lists for when more '08 Black Citys come in - but I also may have an opportunity to acquire a '06 City.

Please share your wisdom with me.

Actually - as I recall - the First that I have is an '06. I can't really remember for sure. The leather on my '05 Twiggy is definitely smooshier, less veiny, and more amazing.

Hmmmm....looking forward to hearing from you experts!

I have a '06 black city which has quite smooth, only slightly distressed leather. The '08 leather seems to vary a bit from very marbled to smooth, so I don't know what you'll get there...

I guess the leather doesn't bother me, thin or thick, veiny or smooth. I have several 06 bags (cornflower, rouge VIF, lilac, rouille). Some of them are thin leather, some thick. The red has thick, smooshy leather like the reds notoriously do.
