I just bought 2 '08 bags and the Sahara leather is soft, shiny, and smooshy not much wrinkle distressed look to it.

My magenta is very distressed, firmer, and not that shiny or soft. The magenta may go back I think...not sure, but the BG pink is the same as the Sahara and I almost bought that one, but DH thought that the magenta color was more $$$ looking ....

I def like the softer, shinier, smooshy feel of the BG pink better than the magenta!!!

Guess it depends how you like you bag

Some say yes, I say it depends. Some F/W have are nicer than some s/s in my opinion. It's just like any other season, some are great others not so great. However s/s is know for almost all having great leather. F/W was more hit and miss then came the disastrous bags of s/s 2006.

Hmmm, what's wrong with 2006 S/S leather?:confused1: Im pretty new to Bbags and only own 1 from that season, the Greige City (thick and smooshy)and it has the best leather among my collection (mostly 2007's), although the S/S plomb 07 I just bought yday is thick too (little dry though)..

personally, i prefer the s/s to the f/w. that being said, as powder pointed out, it all comes down to the bag and sometimes the color. i think some of the f/w had the dubious distinction of being part of the earlier runs for 06, which were notoriously thin and veiny. but then again, there was the 06 rouge vif, which bag after bag after bag, had amazing thick and puffy leather!! i had a f/w 05 black city that had okay leather, kinda thin, and then i was lucky enough to snag an s/s 05 black city and OH MY GOD - the difference between the two is like night and day!!

but, i've also had 3 RT bags from f/w 05 that were thin and veiny (IMO), but i've seen the rare RT that had thick and puffy leather too. i've also owned an f/w 05 taupe with TDF leather...

so, what is the answer? there is none! it all depends on the bag, but i think your chances of getting an amazing bag are better if you're lucky enough to snag an s/s 05!!

From my experience, the s/s 05 bags are a lot better than the f/w. The f/w ones are a bit plain to my eyes, they don't have any major leather characteristics that makwe them stand out, like the cloudy fabulousness of the s/s ones.

I'm very much a Balenciaga newbie and only have one City and one clutch. The City is from the much-maligned 2006 run, but I love it. Yes, the leather is quite thin and veiny, but when I got it I didn't know about the leather variety anyway. I find the bag is very light (to carry) and totally gorgeous. Yesterday a S/A in a high-end store bag dept stopped me to say my bag was 'absolutely beautiful'! I agree with her. I dunno which year the clutch is from. It was a gift too and is a very dark black and pretty shiny. I love it as well, especially when I'm just popping out to the local shops. I think 2006 gets a bad press!

hmmm my 06 Blue India leather is far superior to my 05 Rouge Theatre... I would say it's hit and miss as there were some good ones in 06. BUT I've never felt a S/S 05 leather to compare... so I should just stay mum. ;)

I got my black city in august of 05, but it's marked with a Z for f/w:

It's still very black, really no veins... I don't know how one would classify it.. it's very matte, not shiny. Is it more like s/s or f/w? I *know* it's nothing like 2006, as I had 2 and sold them :push: (cornflower and pale rose)

I can never truly capture it's real look unless it's a candid or on me. :confused1: Taking photos of it alone never works :p

Has anybody seen a new 08 black bag yet? More specificically, a city or Part-time?

What is the leather like? I'd love to hear some impressions or see photos. Thanks.

I am waiting for an '08 Black City from ****** to come in the mail. I asked for the most wrinlkliest distressed one she had and the pic she sent looks fabulous.
Hang on, let me go look for the pic......
