Collecting Tiffany & Co. charms, worth it...or not??

I have the gold T&Co charm bracelet with the links that open. For years my husband and children gave me a gold charm for special occasions..birthday, christmas, etc. Now it's fully loaded.
A gold charm bracelet is a classic. It's heavy though and I do save wearing it for special occasions like Mother's Day.
Another TPF member lost her bracelet because of the open link design...fell off her wrist.
For this reason I am very careful with mine.
A silver version would be more fun/casual. The gold is definitely a statement piece and is LOUD (although I love the rattle)....

Thanks for you input on the gold charm bracelet.
How lovely and sentimental! I'd love to see a picture if you want to share it. If you want to wear it more often, you could just wear a couple of charms at a time instead of fully loaded. That's what I plan to do with my silver charm bracelet. Plus, even with a few charms it's pretty heavy. I can't wait to get mine back from repairs so I can start to wear it!

My small, but growing, collection of Tiffany &Co. sterling silver charms. I have my eye on a bunch of other preloved charms. Also still waiting to get my clasping link bracelet back from repair so I can start wearing these.

Here are my thoughts.
I have worn charm bracelets for about 20 years. I have recently add some Tiffany charms but not on a traditional charm bracelet. I have the one that slides around. I think Tiffany charms scratch easily. I have had gold, antique silver and new no name silver charms. None are as scratched as my Tiffany charms, even the ones I swore would only be pendants. Their stuff scratches very easily in my opinion.
I would would buy what you love, gold or silver and mix or not. Buy the ones that speak to you regardless of metal and then maybe mix metals with a lock that is silver and gold or silver and rose gold.
I think that my tastes have changed too. The big charm bracelet loaded with charms just doesn't appeal to me right now and I haven't worn one of them in a while.
Can't wait to see what you get.
Oh and I will be upset if the enamel chips off of my T & Co ladybug.

Thanks for your input. I'd love to see your charm bracelet creations! I totally understand that taste preferences change over time. I find that I'll wear the same pieces for quite a while and then not again for a few years, but then maybe come back to it once in a while.

I think the main reason why Tiffany pieces seem to scratch so badly is because they are mainly flat and very highly polished, so they take big hits and show everything. Pieces that are textured and have an oxidized or matte surface don't show the dings and scratches as much.

Which T&Co. charms do you have? I also have the wire bangle bracelet with a small "Mom" disc charm. It's cute, but I only wear it when I layer it with my small bead bracelets.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to post an update to my Tiffany & Co. Charm Collection. Here are all the charms I've collected so far. Only the blue enamel and Soho hearts were purchased brand new, the others are preloved but great condition.

Here are the two charm bracelets I could put them on, the blue enamel oval linking bracelet and the large link toggle bracelet. I bought the blue enamel bracelet preloved and it had a lot of issues, including a missing link, 3 links being out of alignment, and very scratched up. T&Co did a great job on repairing it for me, for only $50, so made it worthwhile to purchase preowned.

In all honesty, I have not worn any of the charms since getting them. I don't know if it's just not my "style" to wear a large charm bracelet or if I'm too afraid to mess them up, probably a bit of both. But I am still enjoying collecting them as a hobby, and they would make nice souvenirs if I visit a T&Co on vacation. I think I like most the thrill of the hunt, to acquire hard to find or retired charms in excellent condition at great prices. With Tiffany's history and popularity, I imagine the charms will always be desirable in the future, so I don't mind putting some money towards it. I don't really collect anything else, so this is kind of fun for me. Does anyone else here collect these charms?

Here's how I'm storing my charms. They are each in a small jewelry zip bag with an anti tarnish strip so that they will stay bright and not scratch each other up.

If anyone had any charm stories or pictures, I'd love for you to share.

Thanks!

Just wanted to put in my 2c. I have the gold Tiffany charm bracelet with 3 charms -- the champagne bucket, the solid heart, and the cupcake. Yes they do bang around a lot (especially the champagne bucket because it's the heaviest and largest charm) ... so they do get a bit scuffed. However, I think it's key to not fall into the trap of worrying about wear and tear on jewelry. Jewelry is meant to be worn, and loved! I don't think the bracelet is juvenile at all, it's very sweet and feminine.

Btw -- your collection is so cute! I especially like the Tiffany blue box :)

I wear silver oval link charm bracelet with 3 silver charms on at the moment - hear tag with 'Mom' (1"), Tiffany heart lock (0.75") and mini disc with an initial.
I was worried about scratches at the beginning (2 years ago) but now I just enjoy wearing it. I wear this bracelet on my left wrist with my watch so banging is inevitable!
But I didn't want to wear this bracelet on my right wrist because it will bother me when I type or write, so I have no choice.
I have no regret having bought this in silver as I can hope to get more charms in the future, and I enjoy the thought.

Thank you for your feedback. Your gold bracelet sounds lovely.

Thanks for your reply. Do you wear your charm bracelet every day? I also can't wear large or dangling bracelets on my right hand bc it drives me crazy and gets in my way during the day. I only put them on when I go out. Which other charms are on your wish list?

Nice collection of T charms.
Do you find the T blue bracelet limiting, or do you wear it with just about every color clothing? It's very pretty.

I'm really partial to the blue enamel color and plan on collecting more charms with the blue enamel. I wear a lot of black and neutral colors, so the blue enamel bracelet and charms go well with it. But I also have a the plain silver bracelet if I wear a different color (like pink or purple) and would attach the non-blue enamel charms to it then.

Yes, I keep my bracelets on 24/7, as I feel lazy to put them on and off everyday. I do take them off my other jewelries though, particularly earrings as I have lost quite a few in the shower or other places.
I wear Tiffany gold infinity bracelet on my right, which doesn't bother me too much but does occasionally when I type. I take them off once in a while to dip in solution and polish myself, which is part of fun for me.

I'd like to get a ss mini key with diamond but it seems all sold out so maybe one with enamel to go with my lock charm. I also like a ss sandal with red enamel (which also seems to be sold out), and a silver pretzel (just because my younger son loves pretzel).

I wish Tiffany will start making more new charms as I haven't seen new ones come up for a while... Maybe we should start a thread about what charms we want Tiffany to make?? :graucho:

Haha, I love to clean and polish my sterling jewelry too. Maybe a bit too much, I'm kind of OCD about keeping my sterling clean. My gold doesn't need as much cleaning and I don't wear costume jewelry.

I'd love to see a picture of your bracelet! It seems like Tiffany has been retiring a ton of pieces lately and haven't come out with new charms. I totally missed out on all the Rubedo charms from last year 😒 I hope they don't discontinue the whole charm line, that would be unfortunate.

I love shiny silver pieces too. But once scratched, it's very hard to make it look brand new anymore... Here is a picture of my ss oval link charm bracelet with 3 charms which look quite tired only after 2 years (Mom charm is only 1 month old). It doesn't look too special, but I like the way the heart charms dangle from my wrist.
I love Elsa Peretti's design so I hope she'll make individual charms in the future.;)

Here are a couple of pics. I removed 2 links from the bracelet to fit my small wrist. I used to put the mini enamel heart lock, which is now coupled with my new open heart key (2") on ss oval link chain ("20).
