A friend tried to return a couple of 2013 outlet purchases today with receipt and couldn't because the transactions wouldn't come up in the computer. They won't return anything with just the receipt and no computer info. Apparently 2013 purchases are too old.

Has anyone else run across this problem?

UPDATE: My friend went to an FP store and they returned the items. Apparently the receipts can be keyed in manually and the outlet didn't know how to do it.

Yes, I returned items that were several years old. I had one where the receipt was so faded part of it was illegible. I guess I'm lucky my outlet knew how to do it.

You're right, it has to be entered manually because it's not in the system anymore. I just returned something today with a receipt (and original price tag) from 2012 at an Outlet. It was my final run of returning items before the policy change.

I was told today that the 1/18 date to return items purchased before the return policy change was extended to 1/31.

I did my last run of returning items that were sitting in my closet brand new and unused. I wanted to make sure there were no problems and didn't want to wait until the weekend. In talking to the SA, she informed me the date was changed. I was surprised! As always, verify with your store just to make sure.

I hadn't heard of the extension. People definitely should check with their stores

I believe the 1/31 date has been mentioned here before.

I'm wondering how this will go over with Coach buyers who have not heard of the new time limit on returns, and who will walk in with returns in the next few months. Doesn't seem fair to long time customers, but then again, Coach isn't run by people who care about their older loyal customers.

I'm getting a little worried- I returned 15 items in a single box to JAX on 12/31 (have since misplaced the FEDEX receipt with the tracking number, I know it's in my house SOMEWHERE!) and haven't received any e-mails from "Chris Miller, Coach Consumer Services" (inside joke....ALL my returned items prompt a friendly email from Chris! ) yet.... I feel like I should have heard something by now.
I wonder if JAX is getting bombarded with returns because of the deadline?

I happened to call them today to check on a return I sent back in December. They said they were inundated but my refund was processing. I still haven't gotten an email though. She assured me the item showed returned and credit in process. I thought this may calm your nerves a little.

Agree this change completely smacks the longtime customers in the face. The terms of the contract as entered ( return anytime) should be honored. I know the receipts have that wiggle language reserving the right to change the contract, but I still think it's poor policy.

Thanks for the feedback....I went online to my Coach.com account and looked at the orders/indiv. items status and do see that they were updated to say 'returned" so hopefully the CC refunds will soon follow!

Anyone tried to return a new, unused - with tags attached bag but WITHOUT a receipt?

The real question is: can I get merchandise credit for a return like this?

I returned my last things today at the outlet. The SA was insistent that tomorrow, Saturday, is the last day. She said if you come in on Sunday she won't take it back, no exceptions.

I know people used to. I don't know if they will now. I wonder how they would figure out how much to credit you.

For all my items that had a receipt, the receipt was no longer in the system if it was more than a year old. I don't think the older items are in the system either.
