Ugh, went to return a bag where the tag literally
fell off the plastic ring (never used). I had the original receipt. I explained it to the lady at the register that honestly and truly, it was never used and she started doing the refund transaction. Then, her manager started inspecting the bag like crazy and kept asking "did I use it?". Luckily, she instructed the cashier to proceed with the refund transaction, but in the middle of it all, other managers started inspecting it. I am glad I was able to return it, but it sure generated a lot of unnecessary drama!

Meanwhile, I browsed around after that and saw bags with no tags on them for sale! They need to reattach a tag do that a customer doesn't have to feel mortified if they want to return it.

Congratulations you were able to do your return! Too bad it couldn't be done w/o the drama, but then it wouldn't be Coach!

After reading this thread, I have started cleaning out my closet, too. I will admit I buy a LOT, and don't use it all. I only really have one bag that I've had for a while that I am planning to return. I emailed Coach so that I could have a written response with me when I go to my local outlet to return it sometime this month.

It's a bag from 2012. It's new, unused and all tags are attached. I have the original receipt. I keep the receipts in the bags until I use them.

I had to ask a second time because they didn't reply about returning it to an actual store, which is what I ask asking about.

Here is a screenshot of my conversation with them this morning in case anyone else wants to see their written response about returning items before the new policy started:

I couldn't get them to confirm the date in January, so I will have my return made by the end of December.

I agree, it's better to get it done by December 31st just in case the actual date in January is the 1st. I've read it might be Jan18, which coincides with the Sept19 new policy introduction, but I've also read it might be Jan31 which would make more sense to be the end of the month. I've never asked anyone for confirmation so I'm working with the Dec31 date in mind.

I've heard both jan 1 and jan 31 at the same outlet at different times, so I am planning on the jan 1 date just to be safe... Unless I could get it in writing, lol that's a great idea and probably the only way to make sure things go smoothly and without question! Luckily I think I only have one more bag to return... Would love to keep it, but I know I won't get enough use out of it to justify keeping it. I have a shelving unit on the wall in my spare room and like others have said I am trying to use that to maintain the size of my collection... It's been hard but not as hard as I thought since I'm trying to plan a wedding and the money seems better spent on that expense. I'm finally at a point where I have more bags without tags than with!

Sorry if this is already answered in this thread and I missed it, but can someone tell me if it's possible to return FOS items to a FP store? I am under the impression I still can't (but know I can do the reverse), but with all the recent changes (and me being "away" from Coach for a good part of this year until recently), I wondered if that changed, too. TIA!

Yes you can return FOS items to FP now. I just did it last week and it went very smoothly.
I'm not sure of exactly when they started allowing this, but I think the policy changed to allow this when the return policy changed in September.

Fantastic, thank you! The only reason I thought to ask if it was even possible was because I was talking to CS at FOS recently and she mentioned something about being able to do that, but I just assumed she was confused and wasn't clear on what I was asking. So glad to hear this, as it's so much closer for me!

So how many people are going through their NWT bags and deciding to return while we can? I'm torn about 2 bags that are beautiful but maybe too fancy for everyday use. Bought with PCE but still a good chunk of change.

I've started a little pile of things to be returned. I have one bag I was initially going to keep but now I'm leaning towards returning it. I got such a great deal on it and I love the color, but it is a tote bag and I don't need another one. I just don't carry totes very often. I think I'm going to return some of my keychains that I've never used too. Even though they were relatively cheap, it adds up.

I wouldn't mind exchanging one of my old outlet bags for one of the bags in the SAS sale. However, all of the ones I have left from the outlet (except for recent purchases) are just so gorgeous and were such good deals that I am having trouble parting with them! At the same time, if I haven't used them and they are still NWT, I don't know why I am holding on to them.
