That was me but I've only used emu oil on dark-colored suede bags, I haven't tried it on anything like that beautiful blue.

I tried the emu oil a bit and found that I couldn't get it on evenly. I think an atomizer might help? It made the suede super soft and i love that its non-toxic, but it looked a bit greasy on the high-spots of my bag. No biggie, it rinsed out pretty well. Your bags look amazing! I ordered some Collonil Bamboo spray and we'll see how it goes. I have now spent 23.00 in product for a 4.99 bag ;)

She came out beautifully. I got ink stains out of the lining with Acetone before I washed.
Two coats of CPR and was pretty stiff leather. I'm confident it was rinsed throughly. I decided to throw it in the dryer with some tennis balls on medium heat for 10 minutes and that did the trick! I'll give another coat of CPR tomorrow and call it done. Now, to make a hangtag, MacGuiver style.

Looks great! The lining looks brand new.

What color is that Ergo? Tan pebbled leather?

Another destroyed girl, a city bag. Try to rehab or harvest for parts?View attachment 3821903

How does the piping look? My general rule of thumb is if the bag is structurally ok (no breaks in the piping, tears, etc), I always rehab. Even if I don't want to keep it, after it's cleaned up someone else just might :) If there's enough damage then I will take the hardware off too reuse elsewhere - don't forget the zipper pull if you do this, btw! I've stumbled upon more than one bag that's needed a pull, so it's good to have a spare on hand if you can salvage one.

Hi All, I know it's strange to find me on this thread since I don't do the rehabbing or rescue thing. I did a modification, so I hope this is the right place to post it.

Anyway, my project took close to two hours -- I had to be careful to not damage anything. I typed a step by step of my process, but took several breaks while doing so, and my posting time expired (didn't know there was a time limit). I'm not going to retype it because unless someone wants to do the same modification, it's pretty boring, lol!

Last year I got this beautiful Ace Badlands Colorblock Satchel, but if any of you recall, it was a real challenge opening the zippered, belted closure to retrieve anything from the bag. So I figured if I could remove that pesky belt and the leather strip that the belt was grommeted onto, it would simplify everything, even if I had to sacrifice some of the decor.

It turned out pretty well -- a few microscopic markings remain along the stitching of one side of the permanent grey leather strip that surrounds the zipper itself.

Here are the BEFORE and AFTER pics -- some of the BEFORE's are from my original reveal -- and it gives you an idea of what I removed, which is the light beige leather flap that covered the zipper and that the belt was attached to.

Also, since those large belt buckles on the sides were not removable, they can serve as the remaining decor, PLUS they each have a metal loop on them to attach the shoulder straps -- but I will replace the generic shoulder strap with an amazing guitar strap (still looking for one).
