So, while I figure out what to do with my sonoma nubuc (which might be nothing as it is not too bad as far as rehabs go and it might be the bag I take to my son"s baseball games since it is the same color as the infield dirt :) ), I bought a legacy willis at Goodwill 20170910_100204.jpg 20170910_100213.jpg with the anniversary lining. It had some black marks on it, but I was able to get them out with a dry mr. Clean magic eraser. Good as new! The longer strap is inside the bag.

Great find! I approve lol!

I am all of a sudden intrigued by vintage Samsonite train cases. Can those be rehabbed? Does anyone know if the keys are lost if you can get keys made for them? Thanks in advance. Sorry not Coach related but I'm hoping since it's vintage someone might know the answer.
I have no idea. And DO NOT give me ideas. About Samsonite. Lol You're on your own!

That is a stunning bag! I have not washed this style before but have had great success washing a suede Lucky hobo. Hand washing just didn't get the dirt out. I ended up throwing in a garment bag, and ran it through the wash twice. The suede came out beautiful and soft after brushing, but the colour did fade a bit. I am looking into a moisturizing spray to deepen the tone again. Saphir makes a good one ( I read - no affiliation) but you have to spray it outside because it has such a strong odour. One poster here had good luck with emu oil and brushing. Can't remember who! Good luck with your bag, I think it was a good purchase
Thanks, to you and @Couturexec . I can see where machine washing may be my best hope. And if the color fades, or runs on the lining, so be it. It will make for an interesting experiment. Interestingly, I was chatting up the woman at Goodwill when I bought it, as it was a *half price* color that day, and she said yes, it was not likely moving because it was grimy. And she starts to tell me once upon a time she machine washed a suede bag and it came out great.

Did you use something like Leather Therapy Wash in the washer?

Yes. I bough the LT wash and LT rinse on Amazon. That's what I'm using now. IMO, it's super expensive and I wasted quite a bit on a f*$&ing Nubuc. It does a good job, not sure if I will buy again because of the price.
I put the capful of wash in the detergent dispenser and a capful of the rinse in the softener dispenser.

My parents had a whole set of brown Samsonite suitcases, including a train case. The whole family put their toiletries in it. For me, as a little kid, that was just a toothbrush. I went to a vintage trailer show recently and several had Samsonite suitcases and train cases on display. I have several Samsonite keys from a later era. I don't know if they're the same.

Ohhhhh. I have baby shampoo. And I feel like cheaping out on this.
Make sure it's okay for your washer! I figured that I was using so little that it would be okay for mine. I can't remember if I just had residual soap on the bag from the bath, or if I added some to the wash. I wouldn't use more than a scant teaspoon. Maybe wet the bag, soap gross areas and rub a little bit then wash immediately. If you don't have a garment bag a knotted pillowcase would do. I didn't put anything else in the wash but i think you should throw in some old towels for cushioning.

Yes, I was thinking about washing it with some dark flannel sheets! I am feeling hopeful, yet trying to be realistic too! I will not get to this before before the end of the week, at the earliest. I want to finish a few bags in process and then I will be with my mom for a few days. I will post she she goes in the washer!

Wait, vintage Samsonite train cases are cool? I think I have one. I know I have a suitcase or two. My Dad filled them with all the trophies and plaques I earned growing up and gave them to me when he cleaned out my childhood bedroom. They are in a closet somewhere. Are they cool now, too?

Yes! They are making a huge come back starting with me! [emoji4] I always find them really cool! My parents had a suitcase and that thing is very durable! I think they may still own it!
