Hi rehabbers,

I could really use some help with this!

My ebay court bag arrived yesterday, and to say I am disappointed would be an understatement. Not only is the strap a replacement, but the whole bag is PAINTED in something that does not wipe or wash off. It sort of scrapes off in some places with effort, and the threads are coated too. I contacted the seller for a refund, and she says that the bag was shipped out in the same condition it was listed in. Has anyone had success returning a bag like this? Am I stuck with it? Any help at all would be appreciated.

I can't offer much eBay advice but I can offer validation - I'd be PO'd if I received that bag! I remember looking at this listing when you posted it on the AT, thinking it was a good learning opportunity for spotting telltale signs of weird polishes/finishes. I didn't see the issues your pics show, either. Hopefully others with more eBay experience will give advice.

I would be so disappointed too! The pictures in the listing definitely did not show the details you have pictured.
Options:
1. Try to return it. However, she may dispute it. Did you wash or scrape the bag? That could be a problem.
2. If she offers a partial refund, you might want to consider accepting it.
3. You could try rehabbing and reselling the bag.
I hope it turns out well for you, whatever you decide!

I am bummed for you! I am definitely not an expert, pretty much a newbie. But I can't help but get a pleather vibe from the close ups of this bag. As someone who bought a black pleather Foach from a thrift shop. And I could be absolutely wrong so I will stop here. I know the experts and experienced here will be posting soon with advice.

Hello all
I had a idea today and was wondering if anyone has ever used murphy's oil soap for the dunk on a Vintage leather bag?
Thanks

Hi Rocky, I am relatively new to rehabbing (about six months) and have been using Lexol leather cleaner (with a little Dawn squirted in if a bag was particularly dirty). I use it mostly because I have seen it used by many here. In fact ages ago, when I was reading a Coach board on eBay, I first heard someone recommend Lexol. From combing through old threads I don't recall ever see anyone mention Murphy's. I'm interested now to see if others have now.

I'm so sorry. I really thought it hadn't been painted. You should have no trouble winning an Ebay SNAD return request.

That's an interesting idea. On my father's recommendation, I have used Murphy's Oil Soap on my leather furniture and it works well. I have no idea what is in it, though. I am at work so I can't look at the label--working to support my Coach habit. This site is very enabling. LOL
