Hi I have this bag that I would like to sell and I have not taken very good care of it. It is dirty and the fabric Coach cleaner didn't work at all. I keep hearing about washing handbags and was wondering if it is possible in my case.I believe its a Madison Opt Art.

some of the fabric looks worn out. Washing will probably make that worse. If you wash this bag, the darker leather might bleed onto the fabric. You can use any cleaner that is safe for fabric on the fabric portions of the bag. If the leather gets wet, blot it before it soaks in. If all else fails, you can try washing it since it isn't really usable the way it looks now. If the leather bleeds, you could always dye the fabric brown.

Thank you for the advice, I'll try that. Its no big deal if I don't sell it but would Goodwill take it? I would hate to throw it out and would like someone to get use out of it.
When I originally bought this bag I loved it but it started falling apart pretty quickly (lost hangtags, frayed stitching) and I'm over the signature look, so now I'm sticking to leather Coach and taking proper care of them. Thanks again!

Of course, Goodwill will take it. They'll probably slap a $15 price tag on it at least. You could put it on ebay for a minimum bid plus shipping and see what happens. Once I did that with a bag I was just going to donate, and it got bid up to $40!

I decided to try my luck with E-bay and sell this bag with the matching wallet for $9.99. I just didn't know how to describe accurately that its a POS...lol

Post clear, well-lit pictures showing the rough spots and use the word "distressed" in the title and description.
Good idea about including the wallet. Good luck!

Hello ladies, I did a search for this but I can't find anything with the words I used...
I wanted to ask what would be the best way, to clean the bottom corners on a Penelope shoulder bag, that has a light tan snake trim and the corners are well... dirty. I do not want to mess up the scales. TIA

I think the scales are similar to patent so you can use any cleaner that is safe for patent but you have to be gentle with scrubbing. Stay away from alcohol or acetone as they will remove the shine. I would use a general all purpose spray cleaner (non-bleach), or you could try vinegar.

Thank you Whatever, I will try a gentle cleaner first and vinegar if necessary.

Good morning everyone! I will be receiving a vintage Coach City Bag tomorrow from Ebay and it has some light scratches and the color is dull. I plan on washing it in Seventh Generation Free and Clear dish soap and conditioning it. I have Apple for my newer bags and by reading here it sounds like I might need to use a "stronger" conditioner to get back some of the color. Here's a pic:

Thank you!!
You definitely need better conditioners. You can go to Bed Bath and Beyond and get Leather CPR to start. Don't wash your bag until you have conditioner on hand because the conditioning needs to start before the bag is completely dry (which could take 1 to 3 days.) You can get better prices sometimes ordering conditioners online. I consider Blackrock Leather n Rich to be indispensable as the final step of a rehab.

Thank you! You guys rock like usual  I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and they didn't have the Leather CPR so I've decided to order the Blackrock from Amazon and considering I have Prime its a no-brainer, I'll have it by Friday.
Since I have the Apple I will use that for my Nomad, which is my favorite bag ATM, and use the Blackrock for any vintage pieces I may acquire.

Also you can often get Leather CPR at Marshalls, really cheap too!

I am going to put new feet on this skinny flight bag I got from ebay recently. It hasn't come yet, but has anyone had any experience doing this? I have measured the feet on other bags and I think its 12mm, but I don't know if I should get gold or antique brass. Neither might be a good match:

You need another deep conditioner besides Blackrock. You probably should have gotten the CPR from Amazon too. Blackrock is only good for the final coat. It is good for new bags too as it protects from stains and water.

I kind of went through this recently, but in my case I wanted to replace just one foot. I ordered feet from Etsy and was sent the wrong size. Then I ordered from ebay and learned that even though the shape and base were the right size, the slope was different and the tip of the foot was much smaller, plus it was shorter. After that I gave up!

The feet Coach used didn't have prongs in the center, which is the only type you can find. The height and slope of Coach feet were different too, but that shouldn't matter much since you don't have to match anything. You'll have to dig holes in the bottom of the bag to attach them. Unless you can lift that piece of suede in the bottom of the bag, the prongs will show on the inside of the bag. In your case, I think you should wait until you get the bag to measure the circles on the bottom, because you'll want to come close to covering them.

I think the antiqued brass is closer to the correct color. Even though it is probably darker than you need, it looks better than the really shiny gold.

How about this type? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Solid-Brass...hash=item5685aa7912:m:mlcxBpav0iXuGSWJ7Cr0qJg
They screw in, so on the inside you'll just have neat screwheads instead of prongs. I've ordered from this company before. It takes a long time to get your package but they check with you to make sure you've gotten it and are happy.
