I ordered some new Blackrock and I was disappointed when I received the glass jars instead of the plastic ones pictured. I know both say 4 ounces but how can they both hold the same volume when the plastic jar is so much bigger? Sorry the plastic jar is so dirty. I didn't have an unused one left.

Yeesh, that's a huge difference!
I've only ever had the glass ones but the first time I ordered it I almost sent it back b/c it looked only 2/3 full due to huge air gaps! Second order was only slightly better, but I don't have a local source.
Did you get yours from Amazon?

Did you get these on Amazon? There is a lot of funny business like this going on there. Bait and switch, inferior products, deceptive packaging, partially filled containers, etc.

A report just came out about Amazon being sued by Apple for selling fake Apple devices and accessories.

Yes. I normally have bought them from ebay but the price for 2 on Amazon seemed better. Now I'm not so sure. I'm considering complaining to Amazon.

I see reviews on Amazon all the time that they don't send the item pictured. One time I ordered a 2 TB hard drive and they sent a 1 TB drive. There was only a $10 difference so they refunded that but I was so mad since I didn't want to wait for the correct one to be sent and now I have to make sure I don't fill it up.

Good to know (well, sort of!) - I thought I was nuts at first!
Do you buy locally and/or is there a better online source than Amazon?

ETA: I also fell for the 2-for-1 'deal'!

I also bought this 2 for 1 a few weeks ago. I assumed it was the same stuff but they just changed the packaging. The plastic jar always did have a lot of air in it so I figured this new one might truly hold the same volume. I haven't started using the new jars yet so I can't say if it's the same stuff or not. Is it not? I have also bought it from ebay sellers in the past but I thought this amazon deal was a good price.

I never had the white jar, so I can't say if it's changed formula. Maybe someone else can chime in...
Can anyone tell me if there's supposed to be an inner seal, inside the screw top on the new jars? Mine did not have that.

I will check later when I get home from work. I'll also see if the substance looks identical in the new and old jars.

I got my last jar on Amazon a year ago, from seller WOWpair, for $7.97. It was the 4oz white plastic jar. I need to reorder and it is sold on eBay too. It's challenging to figure out where the best deal really is. I can't seem to find it locally.

The last time I bought the white plastic jar, it wasn't clear full. It must have melted during shipping while the jar was on its side. When I opened the jar, there was one side that was empty all the way to the bottom. Was the glass jar full or nearly full?

I just compared my plastic jar with new glass jar. The glass jar had a good bit of air in it too, maybe 3/4 full, and no, no seal. The color of the stuff in the glass jar is more brown than the plastic jar. The plastic jar stuff had an orange color to it. The new jar is also smellier. This might be because it was freshly opened while I had the plastic jar for like 6 months or something, so it may have lost its smell. .Then I tested it on a the bottom of a bag and I couldn't tell the difference between the new and old, so that's good. I think it's okay.

I noticed there is a different address in the glass jar, but same phone number so maybe they just moved factory and changed packaging. Here's hoping it's still good old blackrocks.

It is only about 2/3 full, maybe slightly more. It also looks like it melted while on its side. I think it might smell more because the glass holds the odor in more than the plastic would.

A shoe repair guy just told me Meltonian is out of production?! Has anyone else heard this?
Apparently their computer software that controls the color mixing malfunctioned and compromised a lot of product before they caught it. They decided to stop production 8-9 months ago, he said.
If you use it, you might want to stock up!
