I've cut cardboard to the correct shape and placed it inside the bag to help shape it. Also push it up against a wall when it dries to keep it flat.

I'll try that, whateve. I didn't expect it to be quite so floppy after the bath so I wasn't prepared. It appears to be boarskin. Any special tips on handling that or just condition/BR as usual?

Side note, I also dunked the Dooney sling bag tonight. Holy gross, the water was disgusting!

I aired it out in the sun today for an hour. It's better but still smells. S/o smells, that Murphy i washed had strong perfume smell and it still does even after the bath. I put desiccants in there too but the perfume is still lingering. I'm gonna have to get that odorZout soon.

They need to make me a paid (in purses) spokesman for them. I really do swear by that stuff. I tell everyone I know about it. Best part is, it usually works overnight-so almost instant gratification, lol. Hopefully it will cut the perfume smell for you. Idk how people wear that stuff sometimes. [emoji13]

Ladies, any tips for reshaping a speedy shaped bag? I have one fresh from a bath and the sides look...puffy? Don't want to overstuff and made them worse but not sure what to do with.

+1 on using cutouts for shaping. If you use foam board, they're reusable, too. I tried to save time by skipping cutouts on the Kit bag I'm slowly working on and am regretting it...

Boarskin question! Does dunking make it softer? I have some vintage Gucci w/ very stiff trim & straps but I'm nervous about dunking b/c of the iffy linings. CPR sure didn't do anything. I couldn't find much on the G. boards.

I dunked a Gucci but it had suede lining. It came out fine. As far as I know, no one in the Gucci forum has ever dunked, judged by the reaction I got. If yours has that flaky lining, I would be afraid to dunk because it would get worse, unless you are prepared to brush it all out and just have the cloth remain. I think the trim and straps are supposed to be stiff. What I've done on bags I didn't want to dunk completely was saturate the part I wanted with vinegar since it doesn't make a water stain, so you could try that on end of the strap to see if it helps.

When I tell people I've washed my Coach bags they think I'm crazy. I would have loved to have read the comments after washing a Gucci!

Great idea - will try this and report back (eventually...)! I also just realized the striped canvas bits might bleed color if dunked so I'm definitely off that idea. Thank you! [emoji846]

My boarskin bag was very stiff this morning-stiffer than before I dunked it. I'll put a few coats of Leather CPR on it and report back. Of course, it's not exactly a top quality bag either. It's a vintage Ralph Lauren speedy bag. On the other hand, the lining washed up beautifully!
