hi i just purchased 2 bags off ebay and there is a crazy amount of hair stuck in one of the pockets. Can't seem to get them off as some off them has disappeared into the edge of the bag. Anyone has experience removing hair from bags?

Nice finds! I envy you ladies who live near Goodwill stores that get bags like that! My local GW is a complete bust when it comes to vintage Coach. They did have a couple of fakes recently, displayed in the glass case up front with high price tags on them.

Sometimes my stores do that. I find going often and earlier in the day helps. As for the stores that hide anything with a Coach tag on it (real or fake) under glass, I have no time for those stores lol. Completely ridiculous! Once, I stopped by one of my thrift stores that always hides Coach under the glass, and found that they made a mistake and put a leather Coach satchel out with their regular bags priced at $5! It was kind of a rare bag too, I had never seen one like it. That was a score lol. Anyway, here are my beauties, soaked, stuffed, and absorbing leather CPR. Where's Hyacinth I want her to see the little Court bag lol. ImageUploadedByPurseForum1466511984.710262.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1466512000.844515.jpg

Love love love! So far I have resisted the temptation of buying a Court for myself, but I can feel my resistance melting.

Repairing tear in vintage strap piping:
Small open tear on edge of strap shown in first picture. Second picture shows repair.
1. Bathed, dried flat, and conditionied strap with Leather CPR.
2. When dry, applied Fiebings' Leather Cement with a very small watercolor brush to both sides of the tear.
3. Pressed the edges together and held for about a minute, then left to dry.
4. Mixed a tiny amount of Fiebing's Brown Edge Kote with some of the cement filled in the gap with tiny brush, smoothing with fingers, wiping off any excess glue. Let dry.
5. Will finish with Blackrock.

Another recent rehab. I think I'm going to give it another coat of Leather Therapy.

How would you go about cleaning a super dirty bag? It's just the bottom and corners. The inside of the bag appears perfect. Usually I just dunk, but I don't want to mess up the smushiness of the leather. Should I maybe just spot clean with some soapy water? I do have some leather cleaner but it's for my Uggs. It's a hobo bag so I want it to stay soft. I bought it at a yard sale for $5 and didn't realize how incredibly dirty it was....regardless I think I got a deal. It's not Coach but I didn't know where else to ask.

I don't think you can use soapy water on just part of it without getting a water stain. If it isn't Coach, it might not be as forgiving as Coach in a bath. I've learned not to dunk Fossil because they have glue that melts and stains. I'd try the leather cleaner. Some conditioners also clean.

It's a lucky brand hobo so it's good quality leather. I didn't even think about water spots. I planned on conditioning first to see if the moisture will loosen up some of the dirt. I'm glad the rest of the bag is in decent shape.

I just cleaned a Lucky with Leather Honey leather cleaner and then conditioned and those did a decent job. I would also do the whole outside to avoid water marks, if you decide to clean it.

FYI, mine was brown and I got dye bleed, like reds do, both when I cleaned and when I conditioned. YMMV, but thought I'd mention that.

Good luck! It's great that the lining is in good shape.

Hi ladies i posted about my Willis find and a kind lady sent me here. I have not got the bag yet so i am not 100% sure how bad it is.It is a newer 70th anniversary Willis in white.I have cleaned leather before but not white leather it has been darker leather. I was hoping for some tips because i am super excited to have another Willis bag. Most of the time i go for dark leather bags but it looked like a good summer bag to me. Is there a good way to remove dark spots and what i think are ink marks on the back and is there a good easy to find conditioner. I posted pictures of the bag that were on Ebay any help would be great ty in advance.

I have that bag in a different color - so cute!
Maybe it was beginner's luck, but I completely erased a pen mark on a white Coach using Leather Dye Transfer Cleaner. I got it off Amazon. I've had zero luck removing ink on any other color bag - LDTC just leaves a light spot. For those, I had to use acrylic mixed w/ conditioner or Leather Refinisher to cover.
I remember reading about someone using zit cream to bleach out marks on a white bag. You might search this thread (or archived versions of this thread) for that.
Good luck!
