Latest rehab -- 1970s Crescent that was the driest bag I ever saw. I took Ravvie's advice and put leather therapy on it -- I think it is still seeping in because it darkened the bag. Oily stuff that! but here she is, with another thrift-shop charm subbing for her long-gone hangtag -- a glass butterfly. I was a miserable teen in the 1970s, but I still look back on the styles with nostalgia.

I love those warm brown tones. The butterfly is just right!

hi,

can anyone chime in in regards to the bags that are unlined? i have always bought bags with a lining so i find it strange (for me) to want to purchase a bag that does not have a lining, vintage court bag. for those of you that own a bag without a lining, have you had any issues in regards to staining your other items in the bag or the lining flaking off? i am sure as the bag ages and is used that this will happen. i just don't want it to damage my other items if you know what i mean such as color transfer.

any help/tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

I love all my unlined bags.... I actually prefer them not to have lining. The vintage leather is amazing I have noticed some dye rub off when I use coated canvas wristlets or what not in a dark bag, but generally speaking I love all of my vintage unlined Coach. Nothing like it and oh so durable.

I love these bags, they seem to be my favorite to rehab and carry. I love the shape and hardware. The butterfly is perfect for this bag. The charms you find, are they vintage pendents or earrings that you repurpouse/up cycle?

Here is my latest, to be fair, it did not need much work, a soaking, some Leather CPR and a dremmel to the hardware with a good polish.

Gorgeous! There's just something about that deep black glow...hypnotic!

The vintage Coach leather wears and ages well and does not seem to flake off like some lower quality bags I have owned.

The Court bag is especially nice because the underside of the flap and part of the interior are lined with smooth leather. I think you'd like it. Just be sure to have it authenticated!

My first thought was the butterfly looks like a hair barrette on the strap 'pigtails'! Perfection!

Stunning! Great job.

Hello rehabbers! I have been reading past posts here for a while, finally posting here myself! Recently started rehabbing a few bags, thank you to everyone who has contributed - I've learned so much. Love seeing everyone's projects! :)

I'm wondering if anyone has a resource for matching Coach colors to Meltonian cream? They have quite a few brown shades, maybe someone here has a cross reference? Thanks in advance :)

Hi ladies, any tips on the hardware and how to replace it? The bag I bought (Coach Court Bag)is in a great condition but the hardware shows pretty heavy signs of wear. The gold color is scratched so it's showing the metal underneath. I saw replacement turn locks on ebay but not sure how easy it would be to replace something like this. Has anyone tried?

OM MY LORD!!!!!! i need some help ASAP please!!! With the site down for the last 2 days I have been a mess. I "won" 2 diff bags and they both showed up, one on tues and one today. They BOTH smell like ashtrays. The are from different locations and came in different boxes. They are both all leather bags with linings. The linings are not so bad but my god the leather is GROSS. What can I do. I do not know if they can be returned, so i need to know if its possible to get the smell out in case I can't return them. :(

I would start with a Leather CPR cleaning on the outside. You can hand wash/clean the inside with dish soap, that will help with the smell. You can use a baking soda or fishtank charcoal disk after it is dry. It will take a while but the smell should lesson. Airing it out helps, as does dryer sheets.....all of thise techniques combined. I don't think the smell ever goes away completely. I would check on a return.

Hi, everyone. I think I've possibly damaged this purse beyond repair, so I thought I'd ask for advice here as a last resort. I bought this used leather Coach purse for $20 (at least I assume it's Coach...could be a knockoff...I know nothing about purses), and it had a small ink stain on the bottom corner. I now know that I should have left it alone (or at the very least done some research first), but instead, I made it about 100 times worse (made the stain spread and bleached out the color.) The stain is in the second photo. Any suggestions to make this usable, or is it a lost cause? Thanks a ton for any suggestions that you may have!
