Hello everyone. Last night I used up almost a whole bottle of Tarrago navy dye so I ordered another kit of Tarrago navy dye and Feibing's spirit based navy dye. I know that Tarrago is not supposed to be a penetrating dye but my purse really sucked it up! Now, I am wondering if I could use Feibings as a second coat. I know that Feibing's can be used as a first coat and Tarrago as a top coat but I wonder if I can use Feibings as a middle coat and use Tarrago again as a 3rd coat. I am almost out of dye so I had to get some more. I really like the results I've seen from using Feibings first and Tarrago last so that's why I changed my plan. I also ordered a bottle of Feibings dye prep just in case I need to start over. I am also going to concentrate my efforts on fixing the top edging problem before I do any further dying because I want the whole purse's edging to look uniform. Almost every seam, belt, corner, etc. has some brown edging that is now a dark navy color after the first coat of dye. Since the dye appears to be affecting the color of the edging on the other parts of the purse, I will try to get the top edging to look like it should and then proceed with the dyeing. Thoughts or advice?
I've been working on the edges but it seems to be a rather arduous process. I sand the edges down, put a coat of Dura-Edge on, check for mistakes, fill in cracks again, and start over. You can see from the edge that has almost no edge coating at all, how thin this product is. I have read that Dura Edge will fill in cracks and it does until it has dried and then I have to start over again. I thought this part was going to be repetitive and take a long time from other's posts and it definitely does. Fortunately, (because I am impatient) I don't have enough navy dye to do another coat so I am forced to work on this edging. Still curious about if anyone knows if I can use a coat of Feibings dye after doing a coat of Tarrago or if I will need to prep the bag and start over. Of course, I'm hoping that I can just move forward with the project without having to backtrack but it is super important to me that this is done correctly and will last a long time.
The first 2 photos are of the materials I am using for the edging. I've not used the Edge Kote yet but I am thinking of alternating coats between the Dura-Edge and Edge Kote. I am using a nail buffer to sand the edges between coats. So far there have only been 2 coats and I sanded down the part on the leather too much so used another coat of Dura rather than Edge but the next coat will be Edge Kote and I will lightly sand this time. I don't know if there is really any difference between the two products but doing this may help me figure it out.

The rest of the photos are showing the problem areas and the progress after 2 coats and an aggressive sanding.

On a positive note, the Dura Edge dries really fast. In the time it took me to post this, it has already dried.
