Thanks. I thought about it some more and I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I might just try to dab it with some paint. The inside definitely needs cleaned but from the pics, it looks structurally sound. I'm buying it from Poshmark so who knows.

I think it depends on how bad it gets after the wash. The paint might not be enough so the shoe cream might actually work better as long as it dries.

Here are some pics. I apologize for posting a MK in the Coach section but you ladies know your stuff!!

That is super shiny. I don't think leather dye would work. I'd try an Elmer's paint pen, if you can find a match. Or you might be able to find a fabric paint to match.

Hey everyone! I'm new to this forum and currently bidding on an NYC courier in burgundy. I'm pretty hell bent on getting this bag and willing to pay good money for it considering it's in good condition. My question is, hypothetically, if I get it (I will!), how would I go about cleaning it up? I read on the Sacs Mag blog that it can be a bad idea to dunk an NYC because the leather can crack, but I'd really like to get it into pristine condition. What would you all reccomend?

I've dunked quite a few NYC bags no problems! They come up nicely, usually plumps up the leather and scratches disappear like magic.

I bought a great NYC bucket bag the other day, I absolutely love it. BUT it's missing a stud that holds the buckle in place. That was a bit of a surprise. I guess the seller overlooked that little fact. Anyway, I love it enough I'm going to take it somewhere.. shoe repair place? to get a new one. Has anyone done this before and what would be an appropriate price to pay do you think? It's this lovely bag:

Hope the link works. I'm not sure if posting links to ebay is the same as anywhere eles...

I've dunked all my NYC bags without a problem. You would only have a problem if the leather is in really bad shape, and if that is the case, it isn't fixable. As long as the leather is still somewhat soft, it should look better after dunking. Make sure there isn't a mold problem before you dunk because getting it wet could make it a lot worse. Also check for ink stains as they could spread. Start conditioning before the bag is completely dry.

I've dunked a pre creed courier and it came out fine.

I had that happen. I took it to a shoe repair shop in Shreveport. I was charged $3 but the rivet he used was too big. He did it without showing it to me first. So I took it to another shop in Amarillo and I was only charged $1 for replacing the rivet with one that was closer in size. You probably won't be able to find an exact match. If I took it to a shoe repair around here, I bet I'd be charged $14.

Thanks Whateve. Good to know it's a cheap repair and I hope I can get it under $10. I will check they're using a close match, too, good idea. I'll update on how it goes. I'm thinking of doing the full clean up on it and conditioning on it before I go so they don't try slipping some shoe polish on it when I'm not looking or something sneaky like that.

Yes they can. I'm always a little more cautious with lined bags but several people have dunked these. It is a Sheridan Glenwood from 1992-1993. These styles don't have creed numbers.

I washed one of these just a couple of weeks ago. I was worried as it is an olive green color and the green dye ran out of it a lot during its bath. I thought it may stain the lining if it continued to release color while it was drying but it didn't. It's a super cute bag. Rehab was very easy on mine.

I posted on the brand thread, and I've gotten some pretty good advice from that thread and a PM with a sweet, knowledgeable TPF'er, but here are a few pictures of my "Not Coach" Soho Shoulder Bag that had sweet tea spilled on her by a waitress at our local, small town restaurant. I did not really press the issue with a manager, though now I'm thinking I should have. The waitress was very upset with herself.
I've got a call in to the purse company to see if they can help me, and am waiting on a call back. Not sure if I should try a store. Apparently, the NOLA Gucci store closed?
Any other ideas, comments, are welcome. Thanks in advance and hope my pics don't get pulled.

I wish I could help. If you're talking about the Gucci store on Canal St, it's closed.
I guess they expect people to go to Saks, but I don't think they'll be helpful with your situation. Sorry this happened to you. Are you in NOLA? I'll be wishing I was when the snow starts flying up here.

Yes, the one on Canal St. It sucks that they closed it.( Makes me wonder about the other high end boutiques in that Saks-allllmost bought Chanel instead ) That's where I bought my bag last year. I live in SC, but was on vacation. I really loved New Orleans. It was my first visit.
Thanks so much for your kind words. I love that everyone here understands me. I know none of my friends would get it.

Oh, ok. I was thinking you might have brought it on a trip even though it was damaged or something. Are there any Gucci stores closer to you? They may be able to help since it was a boutique purchase? I love New Orleans; I go back at least every February or early March. :graucho:

You're welcome, I know the feeling. I have a few international (or previously international) colleagues that would appreciate Gucci, but I don't think the locals up here have ever seen a real one or even care to.
