Does anyone know how I can rescue this one? It's not really dirty just dingy. Would it benefit from a water bath or should I use soap too?
I don't mind the way it looks now but if there's a way to make it look better I'm willing to try it.
Thanks for any help!

So I gave it a bath with Dawn and now it has a mark on the front. It happened while it was soaking, I didn't scrub it. The rest of the bag looks cleaner than it did. Don't know if I should try to re-dye it close to the same color or keep it as is. uploadfromtaptalk1437678134582.jpg

Is it completely dry? On some bags, marks show up after the bath and tend to fade over time. I might be tempted to use Meltonian. I've never used it because it is really intended for shoes but I know at least one tpfer has used it. My goal would be to use something that just lightly refreshed the color.

Yes it's completely dry. I took it to two shoe places today one said to try fieldman(sp?) Spray and when it went to the store that sold it, he told me it wouldn't work. I was debating on trying Tarrago dye but the only colour close to the bag that I can get shipped to Canada without costing an arm and leg is pelican and I think that's more grey than cream.

He probably meant Fiebings. I haven't had much luck with Fiebings. In my opinion, you don't need a high coverage product. You could consider Leather Refinisher by Wood n Stuff. I don't know if he will ship to Canada but if he does, you'll only need a sample size bottle. I'd apply it sparingly only to the areas that need it and blend it in.

Argh... I set aside my supple yet scary looking Willis to work on an easy Court. The creed was legible enough for the authentication board, but post dunk it's harder to read. Any tips for helping it stand out again? I feel like I read a post about someone putting some kind of flour/starch/powder and ironing with a towel on top but that also sounds like the tip to help get rid of grease stains. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance!

The powder is just to make it easier to read in a picture. It won't permanently make the creed easier to read. Sometimes once it dries, it becomes more legible. I've mostly had problems with the creeds in lined bags disappearing. In lined bags, the leather creed absorbs more water than the fabric does and puffs up. If I think it is going to happen, I hit it with a hairdryer as soon as possible.

Awesome! Feels good to "rescue" that dirty purse, doesn't it?

Wonderful job!!! Thanks for sharing!

Looks beautiful! Great job!

Thanks everyone! It was a very satisfying rehab! Here they are all dry and ready to go!

The pen marks that were on the front and on the patent trim are completely gone. There are a few tiny ink spots on the inside lining, but they are liveable. The corners still have a few very tiny smudges, but since there is a small amount of wear on the corners I won't scrub those anymore. A note on the wristlet - there is a an extra layer of something acting as a stiffener in the flap. After I washed it the first time, I checked on it as it was drying and there was a perfect dark semicircular line on the front of the flap, and a small dark spot on the back of the flap. I dunked it again, but as it was drying the second time it came back, fainter on the front but a bit more noticeable on the back - probably because I dried it in a different position.

I realized that something was wicking out of the stiffener on the flap. I am going to dunk the flap one more time, then use a blow dryer to dry it right away - that should stop the wicking. Same method I used on the white canvas tote with the british tan trim.

Now for the hard part - keep or ebay? Does anyone carry one of these?

Wow, they look great! How did you get the ink off the patent? I had a purse once with ink on patent and it just washed right off. Did you use alcohol on the fabric ink stains?

What is the name of the lavender bag in the picture? I just bought an ochre yellow one at a thrift store today. It is a small one, adorable. I'm going to need to attend to a few stains.
It is a Soho belted pouch from 1997. I'm surprised at how much I can fit inside. They are often counterfeited so it is a good idea to get them authenticated.
