If you use sand paper, you will ruin the surface of the leather. Then when you put conditioner on, it will soak in more in those areas you sanded and look darker. Once you sand it, there is nothing you can do to restore the surface. Acrylic paint usually won't cover ink.

ETA: I just rehabbed a similar bag. It looked a lot better once I bathed and conditioned. The ink marks are still there but not very noticeable.

Thanks. I thought about it ruining the finish. The corners are significantly worn but they feel the same as the rest of the bag.
I'm just surprised that it's 2015 and no one has invented anything that can take ink out of leather. Lol.
I might just leave it as is and wash it and condition. The ink is on the zipper flap and on one corner. I didn't notice it until after I bought it. Ink is usually a big fat no for me. I won't buy a bag if it has ink marks I know I can't get out.

Hello ladies, here again seeking your expert advice.

In my quest for cute bags, I found this one that I really like but I fear is going to be one of those that I won't be able to improve, right now I am totally clueless of what to do with this one. It's goat suede with the metallic finish, inside is lined with green fabric.

Anybody has rehabbed a similar bag/material? Any and all input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :smile1:

I really like this one. I have some boots that are metallic over suede and look exactly like this - cool and a liitle rough around the edges. What did you want to do to it? Is it dirty? If not, I'd go with it as is.

The inside is really dirty but I am sure I can clean that. The outside is my problem, I do not know if the brownish areas (specially where normally more wear), is worn out, the metallic finish gone or is dirty.... No stains or ink per say.

I do not want to dunk or use cleaners, that might damage it even more.

I think the metallic has worn off. I don't know anything that can be done. Anything you do to touch up the metallic is going to make it stiff. I thought about eyeshadow but I don't know how to make that permanent.

Here are the boots I have, Seychelle Lucky Penny. They are suede with the metallic finish. Your purse reminds me of them. I like both of them!

Hello everyone. Haven't been around much as I've been really busy with another passion of mine, vintage china! The exchange rate and shipping costs have put a stop to my Coach collecting, however I still have a pile that I'm working through and I do get 'orders' from time-to-time. Just finished this big red beauty for a friend of mine. She was hoping a red Shoulder Sac would come up within her budget, but was really happy with this Large Slim Duffle. Easy rehab: bath, Leather Therapy, Obenauf's, Black Rock and lots of buffing.

Thanks everyone! It was a very satisfying rehab! Here they are all dry and ready to go!

The pen marks that were on the front and on the patent trim are completely gone. There are a few tiny ink spots on the inside lining, but they are liveable. The corners still have a few very tiny smudges, but since there is a small amount of wear on the corners I won't scrub those anymore. A note on the wristlet - there is a an extra layer of something acting as a stiffener in the flap. After I washed it the first time, I checked on it as it was drying and there was a perfect dark semicircular line on the front of the flap, and a small dark spot on the back of the flap. I dunked it again, but as it was drying the second time it came back, fainter on the front but a bit more noticeable on the back - probably because I dried it in a different position.

I realized that something was wicking out of the stiffener on the flap. I am going to dunk the flap one more time, then use a blow dryer to dry it right away - that should stop the wicking. Same method I used on the white canvas tote with the british tan trim.

Now for the hard part - keep or ebay? Does anyone carry one of these?
Awesome job Becca!

This lovely mahogany Court Bag was straightforward too. :smile1:
Nice to see you around here!

As always, they look beautiful!

I was afraid of that, sometimes I should think twice before going for the "cute", and pay more attention to the condition of the bag. In this case I guess I can call it distressed, LOL

You are right, perfect match! If you want to find the bag style is 8B19. ;)

I started "rehabbing" my bag. I'm just washing it and conditioning, not doing much work.

My new way to drip dry. I just wanted some of the access water to drip off. I just checked on it and it's drying and keeping its shape so I'm going to let it dry some more before I stuff it and let it air dry outside.
