Thanks everyone! It was a very satisfying rehab! Here they are all dry and ready to go!
The pen marks that were on the front and on the patent trim are completely gone. There are a few tiny ink spots on the inside lining, but they are liveable. The corners still have a few very tiny smudges, but since there is a small amount of wear on the corners I won't scrub those anymore. A note on the wristlet - there is a an extra layer of something acting as a stiffener in the flap. After I washed it the first time, I checked on it as it was drying and there was a perfect dark semicircular line on the front of the flap, and a small dark spot on the back of the flap. I dunked it again, but as it was drying the second time it came back, fainter on the front but a bit more noticeable on the back - probably because I dried it in a different position.
I realized that something was wicking out of the stiffener on the flap. I am going to dunk the flap one more time, then use a blow dryer to dry it right away - that should stop the wicking. Same method I used on the white canvas tote with the british tan trim.
Now for the hard part - keep or ebay? Does anyone carry one of these?
What is the name of the lavender bag in the picture? I just bought an ochre yellow one at a thrift store today. It is a small one, adorable. I'm going to need to attend to a few stains.

Thank you! It is one of my many favorites!OMG, @whateve! That is gorgeous!!!
I've seen some that look like that too. I think there must be a backing to the nylon to give it shape and it has started to separate. I don't know how to fix it. If you washed it, it would probably get worse.Question...why is this purse wrinkled like this? The one at the link isn't mine but I found an identical one today at the thrift store and it feels "rubbery" and is also wrinkled badly. Can it be fixed? If so, any idea of how?

Wow, they look great! How did you get the ink off the patent? I had a purse once with ink on patent and it just washed right off. Did you use alcohol on the fabric ink stains?
Wonderful job!
Very nice job! I have that same quandary every time I buy a purse...keep or sell!? Lol!
I'd probably wash in the machine, then refresh the color with RIT dye if necessary. I'm not sure how well RIT works on nylon.Hi everyone!
Today I picked up this Nylon Backpack at Goodwill. I felt the need to rescue the poor thing. It has been on the sales floor for so long that it cycled to its color tag of the week making it 50% off.
Do any of you wonderfuls have tips and advice on cleaning/rehabbing this sateen(?) type of fabric?
The poor thing is damp and the back part is the main problem, though the whole bag has a bit of stickiness to it.
I am totally lost. I am afraid that if I do anything, it will make it worse. Either way it will be a $13 lesson!
Thank you in advance!
I've had pink spots that seem to be harder to remove than ink. I'd try acetone.I was told the mark on this wristlet is pink highlighter. Any suggestions on how to remove it? I was going to use Shout spray. Thoughts? View attachment 3075936
If you use sand paper, you will ruin the surface of the leather. Then when you put conditioner on, it will soak in more in those areas you sanded and look darker. Once you sand it, there is nothing you can do to restore the surface. Acrylic paint usually won't cover ink.Hi ladies. I bought this for $15 at a thrift shop! It's very worn and distressed. I like that look!
My question is, I think I want to clean it. Should I? Should I go ahead and give it a bath or just spruce it up with black rocks?
It also has pen marks (I have no idea why people aren't more careful with pens) and I was thinking maybe I could take some super fine grit sand paper to get it off. The bag is already distressed and the spots where the ink is aren't very noticeable. Thoughts?
I'm not too worried about doing the acrylic paint trick...
