I would use Leather Refinisher. You might have to get a couple colors and mix them. The sample bottles would be enough. Dab it on on the places where it is needed. It covers better than paint and has a better sheen.

Thank you Whateve, I have never worked with this product but sounds like the best option. I did a quick search and only could find it in regular sizes not sample bottles, do you know of a place where I could purchase them?

Hi!

I have questions about two bags. The first one is a city bag that has already been dunked and has had 2 coats of Leather Cpr. If you look in the picture, you can see that there is some horizontal crinkling/wrinkles even though the surface of the leather feels smooth to the touch. Any idea how to get rid of them? Will buffing after using Blackrocks help?

The second bag is the Willis with the black and splotchy stains on both the front and back. Any thoughts on if they look like water or grease stains, or any idea how I should treat it? Should I just dunk it first?

Thanks!

I think the lines on the city bag are the natural markings of the leather. There isn't anything you can do to get rid of them.

The Willis looks terrible. I would want to get that into a bath as soon as possible. It is pretty hard to tell what they are. Usually you have to use trial and error to see what will work. If you want, you can try alcohol on them right before dunking to see if it helps.

Thanks whateve.
If it's a grease stain, would the trick people mentioned using corn starch or baking soda with an iron still work after dunking?

Good morning everyone! I haven't been on for a while, what I originally thought was going to be the "Summer of Purse Rehabbing" has turned into the "Summer of House Rehabbing", lol! We replaced the bathroom window, so I made a new shower curtain and valance, we ordered a new blind for said window, have been getting quotes from contractors for a new sidewalk & a new roof, had to pick out shingles - it's been quite a summer. My poor patients have been neglected! I do have one success to share, a bit OT since it's not a Coach. I bought a Sven designs sling/backpack a couple of years ago at GW. It was only 4.97 and the leather was gorgeous and squishy, so even though it REEKED of cigarettes, I bought it. I wrapped it up tight in a plastic bag and put her in a bin, where she stayed until last month. When I pulled her out, she still REEKED, and was also now covered in spew. So, mad scientist brain took over and I threw her in a bin of Dawn water and let her soak for over two hours. I gently scrubbed her after the soak, then rinsed her off and soaked her in a mixture of water and white vinegar for a couple of hours. Set her out in the sun to dry, which took a few days since the leather is so thick! A few coats of CPR and here she is, smelling like.....leather! No smoke whatsoever!

Sorry it's not the best pic, very rainy here.

And here is my next patient, picked her up yesterday for $3.75 - purses were 25% off.

There was a Kristen there with matching wristlet. Both looked like they had been run over by a truck numerous times - please talk me out of going back and getting it today.....

Hey all - I just picked up a black coach portfolio (shown in link below - not mine, and NMA)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-with-Ta...436?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c9e15178c

Mine has dents in the leather (the leather is very soft, and not as tough as the more vintage bags. I'm concerned about dunking it due to what I assume is cardboard stiffener. Does anyone have thoughts on how to help the leather un-dent? Maybe some sort of damp towel and low iron? If I dunked in warm water quickly?

TIA

I wouldn't dunk because, as you said, there might be cardboard in there. The leather on it is probably thinner like on a wallet. It is harder to get dents and scratches out of thin leather. I might try using the heat of an iron, but I've never been successful with ironing leather in the past. (I've always used a press cloth. The leather didn't get damaged but the wrinkles didn't come out either.)

You could also try wrapping it in a towel hot from the dryer. Then I would condition it, massaging the conditioner in. You might want to try Obenaufs and put it in the sun to cook in.

In total agreement with whateve on the no dunking. Do you have a steamer? I steamed some dents out of my Carlyle.

Ooh, I love this little cutie! I know other people don't, but I love the unintentional two tones.

Found this gorgeous Legacy 65th Anniversary Black Leather Shoulder Bag #10326 at Goodwill. I am a little nervous about dunking her though. Looks like there are ink and possible makeup stains on the inside. Would the regular dawn bath get the stains out and then condition with Leather Theraphy then Blackrocks? Or do I need to do something different this one?

Lined bags don't always have to be dunked. I avoid dunking on newer bags as they don't respond as well. For this bag, you can pull the lining out and give it a thorough cleaning. You can use alcohol or acetone on the stains. You can use dishwashing liquid and water to wash it, just rinse well, and try to keep the leather from getting soaked. then squeeze it dry and keep it pulled out until it is mostly dry. The leather can then be conditioned. I love Leather Honey on this kind of leather but if it isn't faded, you can follow your normal conditioning routine.
