Hi everybody!
Need help with my little friend, here. I believe she's a half moon? Got her for a song; she's had a bath and is still damp. I need help how to even out her color. Here are some examples of what's going on all over her, more in some places than others. No conditioner applied yet. I have on hand: Apple, Blackrock and Lexol.

Did you get it authenticated? That bag is often faked. That almost looks like there is another color underneath. When you scratch Coach black leather, it is usually black underneath.

That's ridiculous! I can't imagine why a seller would need 11 days to mail it. I just noticed that it doesn't have the original brown hangtag. If the seller doesn't squish it when packing it up, you might be able to reshape it just by stuffing it with towels and putting it in the bathroom while you take a shower. I don't think I've ever dunked a Sheridan.

11 days for shipping is insane, I sell clothing on ebay and a couple of other sites. Seller may just be inexperienced with shipping.

Marshalls doesn't always have it. Tuesday Morning and TJ Maxx have it sometimes.

It depends. We don't recommend shoe polish, but there are other products that might work for you. I've had bad luck with dye myself; it always went on streaky. Some people use Leather Refinisher by Wood n Stuff but it is acrylic based so may change the texture of the leather if you put it on too thick. If you use the right conditioners, the faded spots might blend in more. If you didn't use Blackrocks, you really need to.

We can help you more if you post pictures.

Thank you again. I wasn't able to post photos directly, maybe because I am new here. I hope this is ok, it's a link showing photos: http://meggerber.blogspot.com

Appreciate any advice. Overall it's a gorgeous bag and the advice here made it fabulous. Thanks, M

Actually those spots look very minor to me. How old is your bag? Some spots won't come out no matter how much we try. I think it is a gorgeous bag. In my opinion, dyeing it would be a bad idea.

You could try to find acrylic craft paint to match. Then mix it with conditioner and blend it into the problem areas. Don't use too much paint or it will look like it's been painted. Don't expect complete coverage but it might lessen their appearance.

You should use Blackrocks or Obenaufs with Blackrocks next. They will make the bag glow and the color look more even.

Hello, I am new to this site, first time posting in this thread although I have been reading, and wow! you ladies know your stuff and your advice is so detailed and helpful. I thought my first post would be about my first "real" almost vintage bag called a Penelope Satchel (I just found out the name :smile1:), but I think that once I get the cleaning and conditioner supplies I can try to improve it, just following your advice to others it's not that bad after all.

So now here I am because I think I messed up one of my favorite bags, it's not vintage but I hope you still can give me suggestions. It's a nylon bag, the Poppy Ski Bunny in black and white, I had it for sometime and have cleaned spots with just a bit of soap and water, but after wearing a black suede jacket and noticing some overall darkening of the white areas, I decided to put it in the wash machine with cold water and a mild detergent, when it came out most of the white was much better, but there is now one spot under one of the straps rings that looks like it "bled" from inside, also the trim of the pockets looks like "see through black". Goodness I don't know how to explain it, but I have two pictures to show you. I went over with the soap and water, but it didn't work.

Any advice on how to clean those areas will be very much appreciated!!!

Thanks again. Black rocks is on order! As for age great question -- someone selling a similar one said she had it for 40 years http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Authentic-Vi...eedbag-Cherry-Red-RARE-9085-NYC-/261598995007 but her serial number doesn't match mine and seems wrong for the style…..

Based on what limited knowledge I have a year with a "7" 1987 or '97?

Well, after a long hiatus, and not much buying (that was a lie) I found this precious green Hailey that needs some TLC in the way of removing many black marks. Alcohol and a little fingernail scraping seems to be the best choice so far, but it is going to take some time. A LOT of time. But for $28, and otherwise mint in and out I think she's worth it. I'm actually quite taken with the color, which is more green than this picture. Might have a keeper!

Funny these two subjects came up because I just bought a grey patent Audrey tote in eBay for 30ish specifically to use as a gym bag. It was missing the crossbody strap and had some tiny ink marks on the bottom, and a little bit of those absorbed into the patent marks on the front. . It also needs some edging repair on the handles. I need something that I don't worry about being tossed around because the layout of the room I'm taking a class in means I could end up with it knocked on the floor if I don't have to put it there myself. I have a canvas bag that would work but it would end up dirty, at least I can wipe off the patent.

Anyway I figured it was a good bag to experiment with stain removal on patent so I tried both acetone and alcohol on marks. I think the acetone might have lightened the ink marks, It didn't much change on the blackish marks in the front. Interestingly, the marks on the front are light and the watercolor effect of the grey patent hides them, so they're noy noticeable unless you're looking for them.

The lining was also dirty so I pulled it out and scrubbed it with soilove in the sink, which also seemed to activate a perfume odor I hadn't noticed. I experimented with full strength soilove on the stains on th front with no noticeable affect.

And then poor miss Audrey took one more hit for the team and took a rinse and spin cycle in the washer. I expected this to make the edge coating worse and maybe even damage some of the other edging but nothing noticeable to either.

I'd post pictures but there is really no noticeable difference between before and after, but she smells nice and clean. Quite frankly I'm going to feel a little guilty using this as a gym bag because the damage isn't noticeable at all

Just thought I'd post this info with others who might be cleaning a patent bag. Short version Is a gentle washing did no damage and the acetone might have lightened the stains a little without otherwise damaging the bag.

Bags made prior to 1994 have random serial numbers that have no relation to the date. If there is a letter in the first position, then your bag was made after 1994 and the second digit indicates the year, for which a 7 stands for 1997. The last four digits in that case would be the style number, which would be 9085 if it is a duffle sac.

The listing you posted is from a seller with vast knowledge of Coach. She has a warehouse full of Coach she sells. I doubt she was the original owner, but she is usually very accurate on her descriptions. Her bag has a New York City creed which indicates it was made between the late 70s and late 80s.

So sorry - bad grammar, I didn't mean she was inaccurate, I meant her serial # doesn't match mine. K7D = november 1997 in US….I'm learning quickly.

It is hard to find a duffle sac in red. It is a gorgeous bag and the leather on the 1990s versions is as nice, if not nicer, than some of the very old bags.

beautiful bag! I always loved this style! I'm very surprised that nylon would bleed. I don't know what you should do. I was thinking of some kind of paint but I don't know what would retain the surface texture of the fabric. Maybe water color?
