Hi Ladies,

My beloved Caroline has lost it's Kote on the edges. I bought some to put on the bag, and I bought a small paint brush for the application. But then, I saw all the videos using a wool dauber. Is that better?

Thanks for the help.

Cheers!
I use a paint brush. I like to use a small one so I have more control. I don't see how a wool dauber would work any better. The one I got with some leather dye is a lot bigger than my paint brush. The edge kote is thin so you have to dip your paint brush often. Maybe people use the dauber because it will absorb more so you don't have to reload as often?

Awesome. Thanks! It's for my Vachetta Caroline, which must be my favorite bag when all is said and done. I say I love others and I do, but this one is so awesome!

You're welcome! Knowing how many gorgeous bags you have, it amazes me that you can pick a favorite!

The edgecote started peeling on one of my Sophias. I glued it back down with leather cement and only had to use the edgecote on a small part. It looks brand new.

The whole edge kote peeled off both sides of the shoulder strap. I tried gluing it back on with Crazy glue and it did not work. I'll try giving the back some TLC tomorrow with the Kote.

I love this caroline. I think I love natural color Vechetta and it's special and coach makes so few of them these days.

You know, I have not bought a bag in a year - though I did cut the tags off the Raspberry Croc caroline three weeks ago after two years! I have the large Buffalo Phoebe with the tags still on from two winters ago -- both were outlet scores. I'm thinking the scissors will be coming out before the new year because I did not love anything from the fall collection.

Thanks again.

I have slowed down too. I still have 3 bags that have tags, and two of them are from the most recent Legacy collection. I will cut the tags eventually. I like some things from the current collection but I don't love anything as much as things I already have.

Can I still hope for this? How to clean this? I don't know where did I get this stain 😔 Please help! Thanks a lot!View attachment 2818507View attachment 2818508View attachment 2818510View attachment 2818511
It looks like ink or grease, or more likely, color transfer. Patent leather is impossible to clean if the stain gets underneath the protective coating. Otherwise, it will wipe off easily with a damp cloth, maybe with a little soap. Since it is crinkle patent, you might be able to dab on some glossy acrylic paint to hide the spots. I did this on a small spot on a crinkle patent bag and it worked.

Yeah, the soap can't undone it anymore. How did you apply the acrylic paint? sorry, would be the first time to do this if you ever. Did you just use cloth? Thanks a lot for your reply.

It is hard to do the paint without making it look worse. In my case, the spot was very small so it wasn't difficult. If I were you, I'd dab the paint on with a small paint brush or q-tip just in a tiny spot first to see how it looks. I would concentrate on the worst stains. It might be too noticeable if you do too big of an area.

I really, really want to smooth out this weird bubbly area on the bottom of my vintage bag. I have tried just a felt buffing tip on my dremel tool, but that made no difference. Looks like it is glue or something but it is part of the bag, not just on the surface.

Any suggestions? Funky cowhide?

That is weird. Warts maybe? LOL! Maybe try Obenauf's. It might soften them.

Good afternoon!

I just rehabbed my first two purses. I am worried about the first one. I think I was nervous and didn't let it soak in the bath long enough. I have since applied 3 applications of conditioner, and it seemed to just keep drinking it in. I decided to carry it today, but now I am thinking it still needs work--I'm just not sure what. It is scratched and still seems so dry. I have attached a before picture, one right after the 2nd application of conditioner, and one from today.

My 2nd one doesn't seem to be drinking in the conditioner near as much, but it stayed in the water almost a whole hour since the water changed colors and I kept trying to get the water to run clear.

I greatly appreciate any advice or thoughts!

Cute bag! I would use a protector like Obenauf's or Blackrocks after at least one more round of conditioner. I had the same problem with my first rehab. I just conditioned it (didn't bathe it) and it looked pretty worn after the first couple times taking it out. I went back and did all the proper steps (dunk, condition, Blackrocks) and it looked even better :)

It looks much better! What kind of conditioner are you using? For very thirsty bags, you have to use different conditioners. I like Leather Honey and mink oil for super dry bags. I like to finish my bags with Blackrocks. It makes a dramatic difference.
