I don't know. I had a bag with mold spots once but it was black so they weren't that visible. They didn't clean off and didn't absorb conditioner. You could sort of feel them since they had a different texture. If your spots don't feel different from the rest of the bag, then it is probably a stain of some kind. Even with acetone, not all stains will clean off. What do you think about the bag?

I think I would try the acetone again. Two.time.bags is more of an expert.Do you think I should repeat the process of acetone? It looks like it is getting better. One side looks good. Maybe I did not do it right. I don't know.. Do you think it is a goner? It doesn't feel textury
Oh thanks. That was a while ago. Actually I discovered that bag was a fake! It was one of the first I purchased, and from an Australian seller. I did get a full refund, but I'll never buy from that seller again.Awwww! I've just gone back to scan thru this thread from the beginning (since the search option is not back yet) and found this post. And now I feel like you are one of the rehab Jedi Masters!
I really wish I knew what caused the spots! Wait for it to dry and see what it looks like. I'd probably give it another vigorous scrub with acetone, rinse, dry then do a coat of Leather Therapy or CPR, leave a day, buff, apply another coat, leave a day, then massage in some Obenauf's, leave it for a couple of days and buff again.Do you think I should repeat the process of acetone? What's the inside looking like?
Hmm hard to say until it's dry. Yes scrub it quite vigorously with a terrycloth.Outside that is currently drying! The bag is still wet, but do the spots look any better? This is the back portion of the bag!![]()

I've thought about it but I've never done it.Does anyone use a sealer over the brass after verdigris is removed to prevent its return?
I haven't. I'm still new to rehabbing, but it doesn't seem to tarnish as quickly or as easily as silver.Does anyone use a sealer over the brass after verdigris is removed to prevent its return?
No. I think it would be hard to apply it evenly and thoroughly so it might end up looking spotty where air gets to some of it if it wasn't sealed properly, and it might peel off.Does anyone use a sealer over the brass after verdigris is removed to prevent its return?
