if its dry cleaned it loses its funky leather treatment look..so I washed it!!!..Sellers either have to bring these to leather places to clean them or sell them dirty! I cant sell dirty!!..Ive already been through the scrubbing doll clothes with a toothbrush phase..this is easy! I get paid 10 bucks an hour to rehab..plus I had the boss buy me big bottle of LT and the LT cleaner! I LOVE the LT cleaner!! now that its drought season, back to Florida well water. The LT cleaner used instead of dawn is making my bags soooooo soft! No more cardboard leather!!
I didnt take a before pic of this jax, but Ill post the after pics..this is a good project if you want to watch movies while condirtioning..wuffing & buffing. AND NO BRASS!!!!! A total picnic!!:graucho: And it got washed in my washing machine!! I'm thinking of rehabbing the rest of my vintage leather jax.they take a long time to sell..buyers want to pay 20 bucks for them now?..maybe CLEAN I'll get what they are worth, or at least maybe a fraction of that..anyway, it gives me a break from the steel wool!!

Help!!!!!

I used too much blackrocks. How do I get the residue off? A slightly damp sponge??

Ok I just used a *slightly* damp cloth and buffed the bag. Took the sticky right out. I haven't invested in a brush yet and I think I need to. It's hard buffing with a rag.
Now I need to tackle the stain that was said to be a water stain. My husband agreed that it looks like a COFFEE stain. Ugh. It's slowly lightening though, I have just been wiping the spot with a wet sponge. Tomorrow I might try a light vinegar solution.
I thought I nipped the stain but when the bag dried, it was all stain :(

I think its impossible to put too much blackrocks on. If it's sticky that means its not dried yet. It takes a REALLY long time (think overnight or a good 12+ hours) for it to be to the point where you can buff it off with a paper towel.

Ohh. The bag felt not so bad so I applied more. I guess I was being impatient.
Anyway the water worked (lol) and now I've moved into the bag so I guess I'm not conditioning it again for a few days.
After the stickiness episode I looked online and read that applying too much will make it sticky and hard to buff.

I've done that a few times and have had to wait for a few days for it to soak in. The humidity level also affects how long it takes. I've also found the Lightweight leather doesn't absorb it as well as the classic leather and can take a week to lose the sticky feeling if too much is applied.

The glazing is completely peeling off the side of my Bleecker Painted Dot Coated Canvas Mini Skinny. While perhaps I've gotten my money's worth for a small item with 5.5 months of regular use, I'm disappointed it didnt't last longer. Is this something I can repair? What type of glue would you recommend for coated canvas? I'm thinking the $20 repair fee isn't worth it for a $40 item. Although, do you think Coach is likely to give a 40% off letter if I send it in? That might be worth it.

I had a zip accordion saffiano wallet for about 6 months when the edging started to lift off and it was just dangling there. I showed it to a SA and she offered to send it in for me and charged no fee. Took about 4 weeks till I heard back from Coach, they sent me a gift card loaded with $231.08 which was the full value of the wallet + tax and a note full of apologies. I never did tell them that I got it at an outlet for right around $89.00. I quick ran to the boutique and picked up the new accordion mini stud wallet in Oxblood. LOVE IT!!

Hi again! I am hoping someone would be willing to talk me through the non-dunking steaming process to reshape a bag. I have to admit this is for a vintage Dooney and a vintage Brahmin bag that are both really smooshed but I don't trust that the leather will survive a dunk (after my previous Dooney dunk where the leather straps ended up like stiff dead snakes!). Do you put a damp towel inside? Or put it over a pot of water on the stove? Do you steam from the outside in or the inside out? In other words I have no idea the best way to go about it. Help please?

The name of these clasps escapes me too...I have a Roll Bag that has one that used to give me fits. It would pop off unexpectedly! Then I discovered that the back part (on the underside of the flap) was not completely screwed down. It was tricky to get it lined up, but once I got it tightened up, the problem was solved. Maybe yours is just loose, not allowing it to snap into place...hope this helps.

Is it called a spring lock? I had to tighten the back of the one on my Binocular Bag too. They look cool but they are fiddly. Also, I think the spring breaks sometimes which would be a PITA.[/QUOTE]
(this is from two.times but I edited your comment and now it's not showing that you are the origin. Sorry!)

Thanks for the advice. I examined the back side of the pesky one and compared it to another that I have that works fine and found that there is a small sleeve made of copper I think inside of the receiving half and on the pesky one it is partly missing. I was able to stick something in and reposition the remaining bit so that it functions better but I'm afraid that's as good as it will get.

I have another conundrum-- this GW find of a tan Soho tote of some kind. It's in great condition except for one-- or rather a hundred or more little things. Spots. :pullhair: All over the front and side and bottom and even a few on the back. I don't know what happened to this poor bag but it got it good. I already tried dunking it and no difference. The spots are a darkish brown, almost like an espresso machine exploded all over it. I haven't tried the dye transfer remover product yet-- does that remove the base leather color too? And I'm afraid it wouldn't be worth it to have to individually treat every spot. I'm thinking of just dying it dark brown... But before I do I thought I'd throw it out for any other possibilities. Thanks y'all!

Picked up a very sad Court today for $5. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement dogleash hook for it? The leather so very soft, but it's in really sad shape.

Thanks so much!

That strap may be like the removable ones on the station bags. If you cant find a replacement strap on Ebay there are usually plenty of black station bags.

I'm going to repair it as I bought the bag for the strap. The bag is in terrible shape. I'm thinking if I can find the right replacement clasp I can re-sew it, or bring it in to have the clasp replaced for a good price. Here are some more pictures of the problem areas of the bag.

I'm hoping to use the bag for parts. I already have a black Court that is better shape, just no crossbody strap.

I only paid $5 for the bag.

It looks like something with oil in it so it could be coffee? Is it vachetta? Obenauf's might work. It would darken the leather and make the spots less noticeable.
