Any suggestions for a push button clasp that won't clasp? It's on a pretty little Chrystie that is in otherwise great condition. I love the look of those vintage push button snaps-- do they have a different name?-- but frustrated that this one isn't working well.
I'm sorry, I don't have any suggestions. I think that is one of the reasons Coach stopped using them.

I just bought a RM Cupid bag. I had no intentions of dunking this bag. It didn't look bad. I applied conditioner (which it soaked up nicely) but it didn't budge the stains.
So a dunking we will go...

The bag isn't gray. I realized my son had a filter turned on
Isn't it the most beautiful shade when wet? Lol

Not going to let it soak long. I'm afraid it'll take the color out. I'm going to let it soak about 15 minutes top.
I didn't pay much for it ( about 50$ which I thought was decent considering its condition) but I don't want to ruin it either. I heard this is the perfect bag. I hope they're right.
It's missing the strap. I hope one pops up on eBay. I might be able to find a gray strap too. I think that'll look better than black. I'm so excited!

I bought a black legacy duffle on ebay a few weeks ago that looked in great condition until i got it and saw red makeup caked into the pocket and a strong baby powder smell to it. I wiped it down with a towel and a little soap and water and got the red makeup out of it but the baby powder smell is still so strong. I didn't soak the bag just wiped lightly. Is this bag one that would make it through a bath of soap and water okay or should i just try and use a rag again, And get better in the corners?

You can give it a bath. You will then know that it's really clean. When it's nearly dry condition it.

Thank you two time bags. I didn't want to take a chance with our asking first. I thought that it would just air out after a bit and the smell would go away but that's not happening. Is it best to hang it to dry or lay it on a towel on its side and rotate it every now and then?

I agree with Two.Time.Bags. I had a black bag that had some kind of dark blue makeup soak through the leather (which is a definite feat) that came out no problem in a bath and was totally gone after a wipe down of the area with some vinegar just to be sure I got it all.

I love NYC burgundy leather. I finished my Classic Pouch. Not perfect by any means. She has some scratches and the colour didn't quite come back on all the piping but I didn't want to paint her.
I knew her when..She came out beautiful~as per usual my friend:tup: FAB WORK!
Are you for hire?
I could use some help here with these piles of bags!! !!HAHA!! I am rehabbing a vintage leather bomber jacket..its enjoyable because there are NO TURNLOCKS to scrub!! HURRAY!!

They are beautiful! I do love the look of those Tribeca totes. Just Lovely!

That is a beautiful station bag. It is so cool to watch the transformations. So, is your sister hooked? Will she join in the rehabbing quest saving beautiful vintage bags?

Thanks! I tend to like structured bags...ones that stand up on their own. Patty was certainly intrigued by the whole rehab process and I shared all my links to various threads on tPF (and other sites) that are helpful with authenticating, rehabbing, etc. She's really a quilter though...with more projects in the works than I can even comprehend :)

They look great! Is your Tribeca tote lined? I found a BT Tribeca tote myself last week (the one strap version) and it's lined with black satin, so I'm a little nervous about the color leeching out of the bag. I was so excited I found it but I'm making myself be a good daughter and give it to my Mom for Christmas after a thorough cleaning :-P

Thanks! I had to go look at the Tribeca to check the lining (senior moment) LOL! It is unlined. I've rehabbed lots of lined bags without experiencing any color bleeding. But BT is sometimes finicky! A few weeks ago I rehabbed a fabric swingpack with BT leather piping that did transfer a little color to the fabric. I haven't taken "after" pics yet. I don't think you'll see any BT bleed on to a black lining, though...good luck!

Great job as always Joodlz.

Your sister must be in awe of you. Bringing the colour back is the best part of rehabbing. It's like being a magician!

Thanks! Yes, she saw the color return, but understood the idea that conditioned leather is happy leather. She was very happy with the result!

Aaahhhh...BURGUNDY! Beautiful job :)

Those really are beautiful and I am especially impressed with the Tribeca Shopper. It has really kept/returned to(?) it's original shape beautifully.

Thanks...the Tribeca is a well-structured bag and nice, thick leather. I stuffed it really well after the bath and let it dry a little longer before conditioning (too busy, actually)...I think that helped :)

The name of these clasps escapes me too...I have a Roll Bag that has one that used to give me fits. It would pop off unexpectedly! Then I discovered that the back part (on the underside of the flap) was not completely screwed down. It was tricky to get it lined up, but once I got it tightened up, the problem was solved. Maybe yours is just loose, not allowing it to snap into place...hope this helps.

I roll up a towel and stuff it inside and reshape the bag around it. You can stand it up or lay it down. You might want to change the towel after a day to hasten drying.

Thanks Sheri. I could do with another pair of rehabbing hands too! Bomber jacket sounds cool especially if it doesn't have buckles or turn locks or verdigris!
Aaahhhh...BURGUNDY! Beautiful job :)
Thanks Joodlz

Is it called a spring lock? I had to tighten the back of the one on my Binocular Bag too. They look cool but they are fiddly. Also, I think the spring breaks sometimes which would be a PITA.
