Hello,
This is my first post. I purchased 2 vintage
Coach bags on ebay in 2012 but haven't had the courage to clean them. They have been stored in pillow cases in my closet. Both sellers clearly marked that they needed TLC and were priced appropriately-both were a great deal.
I just purchased a Coach Hampton Blue Suede bag on ebay and it was delivered yesterday. This purchase was done with my heart and not with my head. I ignored my misgivings and went ahead anyway. I paid too much.
The bag is filthy - possibly the previous owner enjoyed it and used it every day and then tossed it in the closet because she too was afraid to clean it. I have decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and not leave any feedback.
The upside of the story is this - I now have the courage to clean these lovely Coach bags. So this morning I followed katev's excellent Coach tutorial and cleaned registration number M9D-9180. Please see the pictures below. Sorry they aren't great pictures and sideways! She looks a little lumpy and bumpy because she is stuffed with hand towels and drying nicely. In reality the leather and lining are now very clean and fresh smelling. The leather is smooth and beautiful.

I have Apple leather conditioner and will apply it according to the tutorial and post better pictures (hopefully) when the process is finished.
So I wanted to say Thank You(!) to all of you. Thank you for posting very helpful hints and encouragement for bringing these pretty bags back to life. Thank you for providing excellent instructions.
And after all I do thank the Coach suede seller - if that bag hadn't been in such terrible condition - really smelly & dirty - I wouldn't have had the courage to clean this gorgeous classic Coach handbag.
